I’m still confused about the love that Pittsburgh gives Fleury. I mean, I understand why, but it is stupid.
IMO
I don’t root for him cause he’s such a swell guy.
It’s primarily because of what he went through the last couple years. And yeah he handled it classy, but even if he didn’t, that’s a complicated and difficult way to say goodbye to your hockey bros. He deserves good things for losing his spot to a possibly inferior goalie and then getting sent to Siberia right after.

I don’t think he “deserves” such an exclusive achievement. But a certain team and their fans certainly “deserve” to feel like they’ll never win anything after tonight. Because there’s plenty of that to go around.

His contract included a NMC which would have forced the Penguins to protect him and expose Murray. Legally speaking he had a choice.
