Dear Canucks fans,

Earlier this year we wrote a letter to the city, and to everyone who has supported us for the past 18 years. Many people were asking what the future holds. We said we'd take it one year at a time. We said when the time was right, we'd talk with our families and sit down with management to discuss it.

We started the year with the mindset that a decision would be made in the postseason. But it became clear, after discussions with our families throughout the year, that this will be our last season. This feels right for all of us.

I feel like this is worthy of its own thread.

It is. These are Hall of Very Good players and very unique in the context of history. Two top-3 picks, twins, played on the same team and same line for 18 years. Thanks for teaching me advanced puck cycling, boys. Best of luck back in MODO, where I'll presume you'll play next season... :thumb:

Definite Hall of Very Gooders

Image

Henrik: 1327 games, 240 goals, 829 assists, 1069 points, .806 PPG
Daniel 1303 games, 391 goals, 647 assists, 1038 points, .797 PPG

They also have freakishly long necks:

Damn... Feels like the end of an era. These guys were still in their 20s when the Pens won in 2009.

To me, it seems like there never was an era for these guys.

And it makes me ill to think I was conflicted in the ‘11 finals. The nucks had plenty of rats on that team, but...blech.

I guess I just meant in terms of having identical twins both playing hockey at a high level for the same team. It's been a fun thing to watch the last 10-15 years.

Too broad. This could describe anyone.

That '99 draft....woof.

On another interesting note, only two other players from that draft went on to score 600 points:
210th pick - Henrik Zetterberg 954 points 1079 gp

212th pick - Radim Vrbata 623 points 1056 gp
(Thanks Reddit)

Stefan was the safe pick...Brendl was the home run...

He was the original hot dog man...before Kessel...Brendl's diet consisted almost entirely of hot dogs in his draft season it seemed like...he was a bovine lummox if there ever was one...but 70 tucks in the Dub is not shabby at all...

Connolly would have absolutely been a regular 2C in the league had he not gotten his bell rung. If he was drafted in 2014 instead of 1999, the guy would be a gem...he could dish for days...

I loved me some healthy Connolly. Dude was a stick handling wizard.
