No relegation tournament (a la Kvalserien)? Just last place goes...?

Also, Tomas, I hate to keep asking you things but you're such a great resource for my unlearned ass...any chance you can produce a roster WITH NUMBERS for the Czech U18 team for Five Nations Tournament that was held in the Czech Republic (I think...?) in early February? They're the only country I can't find a roster with numbers for...no big deal, super low priority...most of them stunk anyhow...but it would just be nice to have knowledge of exactly who is who if it's something that can easily be found...I don't know how to search in Czech, I'm still recovering from trying to pronounce "Knights"...

This roster?
https://www.hokej.cz/mladez/roster/32
Or straight from one of the games:
https://www.hokej.cz/zapas/2888110

For the future, this is the official site of the Czech hockey:
https://www.hokej.cz/

No relegation tournament is the new thing this season - and fans love it (unlike the teams)! During the previous seasons, the last team usually gave up in the middle of the regular season, the second to last at the 3/4 regular season point. Then they coasted until the end, stayed fresh, injury free, and just prepared to face the two CZE2 qualifying teams that had to play their butts off during the CZE2 play-offs. Not surprisingly, most of the times the 2 fresh Extraleague teams killed the 2 tired CZE2 teams during the relegation tournament.

This year, the last team (whoever it will be) will end up with a point total that would allow avoiding relegation tournament in 2 of the last 5 seasons (that is, the last team this year would have finished 12th in 2 out of last 5 years, and would have never finished last in the remaining three seasons). Basically, everybody fights until the finish.

Yeah, that looks like the right roster...thanks for that.

Oh wow, that's interesting. I wonder if Swedish and Finnish teams have/had that same issue (Liga went to a closed league a couple years ago, but you can apply from their second-tier Mestis League) of teams coasting into the relegation tournament...

Thanks as always :thumb:

For the (Jagr) watch:

Today:
Kladno: +0 (idle)
Pardubice: +3 (regulation victory)
Litvinov: +1 (OT loss)

All teams with 3 games to go. Last game will be Kladno (Jagr) @ Litvinov (Slegr is GM there), but Kladno has worse H2H record against both Pardubice and Litvinov (so they are technically 4 points behind)

11. HC Vítkovice Ridera 49 13 8 5 23 124:164 60
12. HC Verva Litvínov 49 14 3 9 23 142:168 57
13. HC Dynamo Pardubice 49 14 3 9 23 115:156 57
14. Rytíři Kladno 49 14 3 6 26 123:168 54

Jagr watch after today:

Kladno: +3 (Jagr with an assist on the GWG)
Litvinov: +3
Pardubice: +3
Coronavirus in the Czech Republic: +3 (all coming from Italy; one of them a US citizen)
Vitkovice: +0

11. HC Verva Litvínov 50 15 3 9 23 146:168 60
12. HC Dynamo Pardubice 50 15 3 9 23 118:158 60
13. HC Vítkovice Ridera 50 13 8 5 24 124:168 60
14. Rytíři Kladno 50 15 3 6 26 125:169 57

2 games left in the regular season. Kladno with the worse H2H against any of its opponents.

Jagr watch after Tuesday (one game left in the regular season):

Vitkovice: +3 and will NOT be relegated
Kladno: +3 (and will not be relegated if it wins the next game @Litvinov)
Pardubice: +1 (and will be relegated only if they lose the next game AND Kladno wins at Litvinov in OT, setting Pardubice-Litvinov point tie)
Litvinov: +0 (and will not be relegated if it wins the next game vs. Kladno or if Kladno wins in OT and Pardubice lose)

To put it simply: it's Jagr (owner/player for Kladno) vs. Slegr (GM and ex-HC of Litvinov) for all the marbles in the last game of the season, facing each other this Friday!
(Litvinov's relegation would be the first in the team's history (in the top league since 1959). I believe they are the only Czech team never to be relegated.)

11. Vítkovice 51 14 8 5 24 132:170 63
12. Pardubice 51 15 3 10 23 119:160 61
13. Litvínov 51 15 3 9 24 147:171 60
14. Kladno 51 16 3 6 26 128:171 60

Radim Vrbata is pissed off that Jagr constantly slashes, holds, hooks, elbows... and referees stay silent:

Incidentally, the vast majority of comments under the article support Vrbata...

Jagr does not sound very confident about continuing his career.

(The last exchange is:
Q: Is your motivation to play until 50?
A: I'd say I need to find a reason to play in the Czech (second) league.)

Better yet: sign with the Pens, suit up for one game, score a hat trick, then retire and let the team hang your number from the rafters.

One time I read an interview with Jagr where he mentioned - and not in a joking manner, apparently - that he does not like Sudden Death movie - because he ended up with minus-4 (his count, not mine) in that SC finals game...

Can't find the actual interview, but here are four articles mentioning Jagr's displeasure (one of them from Howard Baldwin, the owner):

He’s gonna play until something falls off, isn’t he?

Edit: looks like that was his only game of the season. Did something fall off?

Ninth game of the season.
Third liner on the roster of a 2nd league Czech team.
First goal of the season.
To be added to the lone assist from the first season's game.

Plekanec is 10+14 in 23 games. Started the season in one Extraleague team but then he left to be closer to his family (he has a small daughter(?) with retired tennis star Lucie Safarova after his bitter divorce from one Czech pop/musical star).

Interesting stat of the day: Jagr held without any points in 8 out of 10 games he played in CZE2 league this season. But - his team got points in all 10 games he played (7x3 for wins in regulation, 2x2 for OTW, 1x1 for OTL)
