USA! USA! USA!

Great positioning from Oettinger in the shootout.

The captain of Team Sweden injured yesterday against Russia :/ It will be a lot harder without him...

I haven't seen Dahlin live yet. He wasn't part of the Frölunda team that faced Linköping before christmas.

I sat 15 feet away from Dahlin in the small rink for the game against the Swiss...the guy is an absolute magician...

I will take your word for it ;)

It sounds as if you would pick him quite early in the draft. But I guess Letang is not enough to get the first round pick. And it will probably take a few years until Dahlin makes an impact in the NHL :/

Re: Gustavsson. I'm assuming you mean the goalie, our prospect...he's been sharp. Compact goalie, good positionally, he's tracking pucks well. Sound technique. Plays a clean game in the sense that he doesn't burp up rebounds. In fact, I don't think any goalie in this tournament has displayed better rebound control than Gustavsson. Definitely tracking upward. All three Swedish goalies have been drafted in the NHL, so it's not like he's starting over total losers...

Re: Dahlin. Dahlin is very clearly the #1 pick. I've seen all these guys now. He's a step ahead of whoever people want to try to pump into the #2 spot. There's a gap after Dahlin. He jumps immediately into the NHL and has an impact. This is some kind of talent. I won't compare him to a future HOFer in Erik Karlsson, that's not fair. But this is the first disciple we have seen of the Erik Karlsson show. Hopefully there's more of this coming, because this is some kind of player...wow...

@Tomas congrats on the Czech upset of a strong-defensed Finnish team...can you point me in the right direction on the pronunciation of Martin Nečas -- NIH-chass? NEE-kosh? Neh-chass? What's my best bet as an English speaker that isn't going to get it exactly right, but wants to be close enough...?

NEH-chass is indeed correct. It means "bad weather"...

Oettinger should have played the medal round. Woll sucks. Not that these were necessarily his fault...but I thought he was kind of a swamper in the tournament throughout...

The Sweden team is a wagon though, and good for our lone prospect...named player of the game and will play for gold against, presumably, Canada...unless their wonktastic goalie blows it for them...

I didn't get the name but someone dogged it back on their 3rd goal. Just gave in and let them have the 2 on 1. Not a good look
