Stevie Y still has both eyes.

Not allowing beer league punks to hide behind a cage would bring the temperature of the game down.
do you think Yzerman's vision is 100% out of that left eye? and even if it is, see Berard, Bryan. sticks and pucks get up both accidentally and on purpose all the time. it's just not worth it, especially if you're not getting paid to play.
I can't speak for your league but my local league doesn't have these "punk" problems. most likely because when issues do arise we come down pretty hard on the offenders. the head-butting discussed a few posts ago would earn a match penalty and hearing before the league's board.
part of that might be because we are an independent league operated and run by the players rather than the rinks so we're not afraid to toss players out for life. their money will be replaced by someone else's in a matter of days.

Feels good, man.

I don't want kids anyway. What's the worst that can happen?

Because of my previous profession, I’m paranoid about wearing a cup and do so to an extreme. I wear a cup in slow pitch softball

I don't wear shoulder pads even though there is the risk of getting blasted with a slapper because I figure worse comes to worse it's just a broken sternum or something

I absolutely do not trust not wearing a cup. That **** scares the hell out of me

If I played in the NHL I would probably wear a half shield but maybe not even that. I however have a day job, and I need to see at said job. I have a wife and kids and a house and all that jazz and I need my job to pay for said things. I don't get paid for hockey, so I'm going to wear a cage even though the risk of something happening is very small. I used to play with a half shield and my own teammate swung around the net with his stick up high (not looking) and busted one of my teeth. That was it for me. Cage ever since.

Got to watch my first bit of beer league antics last night. Other team didn't have a goalie so one of the rink refs that just hang out all the time decided to play in. He goes into goal with leg pads, elbow pads, shoulder pads, and a goalie mask. Not even a jersey, his back is bare skin. Game is back and forth, swapping 1 goal leads through two. Beginning of the third he gets popped with a shot right in the face. Has the biggest tantrum about people shooting high on him and so he spends the rest of the game just standing in the middle of the net not reaching for shots, we ended up winning 11-7.

It was really shitty, the last 5 minutes or so the teams just stood around and passed it back and forth until time ran out. Supposedly the other team had 5 guys willing to play goal but didn't suit up because this guy offered. He came into our dressing area and started yelling at our most veteran player for shooting at him. Insane.

“Hey I’ll play net, but don’t shoot at me.”

What a poor excuse for a human. I gotta fight a hard on while playing and this dude has tears. Grow up

Unfortunately link wouldn't load...but went Warrior QX4 Backstrom with as mid-curve, mid-******* everything as possible...I'm coming off a Graf PK440...or something...so every stick represents a major change...I tried to follow Hornqvist around with gear, but when he went CCM I couldn't readily follow...like I said, should play with a right handed shovel...this Backstrom stick should provide that...

Warrior makes good twigs. Funny someone should bring up sticks. I was in my garage last night last looking for something and I move a moving blanket... six sticks still in the manufacturers wrap. If any goalie want some Warrior twigs from 8 years ago with MEOW stamped on them, let me know.

I mentioned buying that same Warrior, same curve a few pages back. I like it, my first composite. I imagine yours doesn't have an extension tho...
