Had to play two men's league games last night...broke my stick on my second shift of the night...broke my buddy's stick on the very next shift...had to use someone's backup dek league tree stick for the rest of the night haha...haven't used wood in a while...
What a joke though, both on stick on stick defensive plays, as I don't take slapshots...

I moved down to a Bauer 77 flex for this session from a True 80/85 flex (I can't remember which). Breaking it is my biggest fear, but holy crap I've never shot the puck this well in my life.

I’ve always thought that a lower flex does not mean it breaks easier. I think if you use the correct flex for your play style, all sticks have a somewhat equal life expectancy.

No wonder you model your game have Hornqvist. It would be a miracle to score from beyond 15 feet with that “stick”This was a Graf PK440...I'm not sure I'm going to find that too easily...

I was able to develop a snapshot with this stick though...I barely even take wrist shots any more...back bar snap shots or, more likely, deflection/bank-in goals...

I just switched from a 100 flex to an 80 and it feels like its going to snap in two every time I take a shot. The extra bendiness is taking a while to adjust to.I’ve always thought that a lower flex does not mean it breaks easier. Probably a good move. 100 flex is too much for 99.9% of adult leaguers.I just switched from a 100 flex to an 80 and it feels like its going to snap in two every time I take a shot. I used to play on a team with a woman who was just starting out. she got into hockey when the Thrashers came to ATL. one day before practice she asked me to teach her how to shoot top shelf. (side note: this woman was maybe 5 feet tall and probably 110 lbs) I talked to her about how to get flex in her stick and following through on the shot, blah, blah, blah. then I took a look at the stick she was using. it was a stick of Jaroslav Modry's that she got at a Thrashers equipment sale. it was 115 flex BEFORE she cut it down to her height. I explained to her that she'd never getting any flex out of it and she needed to get something around 60 flex for her size.Probably a good move. 100 flex is too much for 99.9% of adult leaguers.

115 flex before it was cut (a foot?) - that thing should have become part of her bed frame...not her shelfin' stick...sweet fancy Moses...
The stick I just broke was a 90 flex I think and even that was bordering on stupid for me...but I don't shoot from way out either like Phil...

Yeah, aren't you one of those crease pylons? Just get a tree trunk or a piece of rebar or something.

If you are going to be a garbage man and only score when you are in the crease with the goalie, you might as well use one of those plastic mylec blades that you can bend either way

I used a wood stick for a game and a half last week...I had to go grab my practice stick from the rink, which has this God awful blade on it that I can't shoot low enough with and cannot pass at all with, it's like some Sandis Ozolinsh + Bozo the Clown hybrid blade...Bozolinsh...so I might have to go back to wood...

Somehow I've acquired two of the Jagr 'pro street' or whatever sticks, in Philly colors. You can have them.

Throughout my years of hockey, I’ve had the chance to mess around with dozens of NHL player sticks. Their actual curves, not the mass produced pass offs. Hands down my favorite curve...Jarrko Ruutu. This thing was amazingly versatile. It was the only stick I could shoot the puck over the end glass from the hashmarks at the other end of the rink. Some TPS stick
Edit. I can’t comment on how it was spearing someone in the nads, since I think that is all he used it for.

The Koho ones! I used that before I switched to composite. It's the official stick of dek hockey beginners who have never played before.
I use a TC3 on my True (it's similar to a Marian Hossa pro stock) and a P28 Giroux on my Bauer (toe, similar to the E28). I previously used an Iginla, but I'm so used to the toe curve now that I can't hit the net with anything flatter.

Yeah, that's the one. We got them when my parents moved to a smaller house. My wife shoots left handed so when we go putter around she has something to play with. My actual stick is a Sherwood that they probably don't even make anymore.
