Last night I did it. I shot a puck in my own goal. A real nice backhander, goalie was on the opposite post. I had plenty of net to shoot at. Every once in a while when I'd see an NHL defenseman shoot a puck in his own goal, I'd always wonder "how the hell does someone do that... idiot".
Luckily we overcame that and won 6-4.

Oh, good. I feel better now. All I did was dish the puck out of the corner to a guy in the high slot. It was the defensive corner and the guy was on the other team, and he sailed it past my goalie untouched.
We lost though, so I feel bad again.

You have to tell that story different. Don’t say the guy was on the other team. “So we are snapping it around and I throw this nasty 35 foot sauce right onto his tape and he friggin’ buries it. Keeper never stood a chance.”

Yeah. When skating back to center for the faceoff I jokingly said I should at least get an assist; my teammate said I might as well have been awarded the goal.
Other than that I played well enough. Made the mistake of eating too much rice and beef stew. I thought 4 hours would be enough to digest it. I was wrong.

Yeah. Four hours isn’t enough typically. Maybe the rice was good to you, but the stew turned into concrete.

how often do guys try to fight in your leagues?
that's one thing I never understood about amateur hockey. Idiots just get unnecessarily physical and often times are literally just looking to scrap

I've never seen it happen live, but we're the bottom tier league so most of us are just trying to stay upright. We only have one or two penalties a game; last night we had one because one of my guys picked up the puck and threw it to me...

We had one a few weeks ago in my dek league. My teammate was playing the ball behind the net and trying to jump a wraparound. Whistle blows, their guy (aka Mr Clean) tackles my guy into both his goalie and other defenseman. Other defenseman falls and kicks Mr Clean by accident. Mr Clean thinks my teammate kicked him, so he grabs the back of his helmet and starts slamming his head into the ground. My other teammate pulls Mr Clean off, they shove, teammate punches him in the nads.
Mr Clean got ejected and suspended for a game or two. That team was trying to argue with the refs about it, saying both our guys should've been gone. I'm not really sure why. Nut puncher got a roughing, Mr Clean got a minor and a major.
Mr Clean is also a ~ 40 year old manchild.

A and E leagues have almost no bullshit. A leaguers have played at a high level and want to keep on the ice. E guys are trying not to get hurt while getting some exercise in.
B and D get chippy. B leaguers are not as good as they think they are and get pissy with petty stuff. D guys are just able to skate well enough to be dangerous.
C is like prison rules. I don’t understand these freaks

My E league gets chippy/has a few dirty players in it. Probably because it's not a real E-league, so you get brand-new beginners and dudes who should be playing high C/low B but would rather skate around people who can't keep up.

My rink has almost eliminated fighting. Basically if you fight, you done for the current session and you have to sit out the next session. They don't tolerate it at all. They used to just give a game or two and we'd have multiple fights per year.how often do guys try to fight in your leagues?

my league has fights occasionally but I'm not sure how many of them are real fights. guys rarely actually "drop the gloves". it's usually just a bunch of pushing and shoving. there's nothing sadder than a beer league fight.
I find though that fights in our league increase during 2 times of year: NHL playoffs (especially the earlier rounds) and the dog days of Summer.

I need to get back skating again. I noticed Southpointe has stick time on Fridays afternoons, which works out for me since it's maybe 15-20 min away and more importantly I have every other Friday off.

Guy on my roller team got assaulted on Sunday. Dude with a cage head butted him in the face and then his brother jumped in and all chaos ensued, while the refs stood there and said " I don't get paid enough for this" Guy ended up with a broken nose and the two brothers got banned from the league.how often do guys try to fight in your leagues?

I'm legit surprised to see how many adult roller hockey players wear cages. I played the first game with just a helmet, then put my clear shield on after that as an extra bit of insurance. About 60% of my team plays with a wire cage.

I wouldn't want my face to get jacked up in a hockey game. I'd probably wear one, too.

Cages should not be allowed in adult league hockey.
