PSU loses 3-2 with 30 seconds left in regulation to Notre Dame in the B1G semis in South Bend. Now they wait to see if they get an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. Sigh.

Everything points to them being a 3/4 seed. I know they're technically "hosting" one of the tournament locations in Allentown. I think as host they get placed in that section? I could be wrong on that though. Either way, they're closer to a 3 seed than a 4 seed. Now they just to hope there aren't too many at large bids stolen due to championships.

Was a tough year for psu. But with only 4 seniors (1 of which is the backup’s back up for goalie), I look forward to seeing how they hold up next year.

OSU gets Denver in the regional final. I think this would only be the 2nd Frozen Four in program history if they win. Would be a 20 year gap.

Happy to root against ND for any reason, but hating those stupid helmets is going to make it fun.

I originally wanted to go to St. Paul last week for work, but couldn't find a hotel so I had to push it back two weeks. Just found it it was because of the Frozen Four, derp.

Neat pick-up for PSU. Not sure how an OHL first round draft pick stacks up in the odd workings of junior hockey, but I'm all for bringing in the talent!

How do the Canadian leagues compare. Like WHL vs OHL vs QMJHLGBT?

Like what's the highest level of competition?

They all go through some cycles really...the QMJHL is generally less well-rounded, more offensive less physical...the Dub is usually more physical, lower scoring...it has a much larger territory/footprint (everything west of the Mississippi really)...the OHL has really good balance in my opinion, very high level of talent...

This was a roll of the dice by the Petes...he didn't want to play in the OHL it seemed like, but they thought they could convince him...kind of like how Patrick Kane was *cough* convinced *uncough* to play for London...it didn't work out for the Petes...the only thing they can hope for now is that he flunks out of Penn State (that's impossible, of course) or that he gets drafted in the NHL high and signed right away...but those scenarios are just not realistic really (though, the latter happened to our very own Jamie Oleksiak...Northeastern -> Niagara)...

Interesting. I have no knowledge of Canadian juniors, so I figured I’d ask.

Do the Pete’s get any sort of compensation for a draftee not reporting?

Yeah, they're going to get something. They have the compensation system so that small market teams (like the Petes) or outpost teams in the middle God damn nowhere (like the Soo) don't completely miss the boat on stars that come through but don't want to report...in this case, here's an NCAA kid who isn't gonna go to P-boro, but you take the shot at him because you're back by the compensatory system and maybe you can bribe convince him or maybe he tells you that he'll play for London or Windsor or something and you can get compensation from them as well via trade...

I’d like to know what is going through his head. Obviously there are a ton of reasons for wanting to play in this league or wanting to play in that league and it’s always a cool story. It used to be that NCAA players were sons of former NCAA players or they grew up going to NCAA games or they were a self-proclaimed late bloomer *raises hand*.
