Full Shattenkirk deal (per Washington Post):

Kevin Shattenkrik (39% retained) and (ex-Capital) Pheonix Copley to the Capitals.
Zach Sanford, Brad Malone, and a 2017 1st round pick in 2017 to the Blues.

If the Caps resign Shattenkirk or if they go to the Eastern Conference Final and Shattenkirk plays in half of the games, St. Louis receives a 2019 2nd round pick.

If the Caps trade Shattenkirk before July 1, St. Louis gets Washington’s 7th round pick.
But, if that trade gets a pick higher than a 4th, then St. Louis gets the “next available pick two rounds later than the earliest pick received by Washington”

So the conditional pick could be anything from a 2nd and a 3rd, down to nothing (if they don't make the conf final, he gets hurt and they don't trade his UFA rights)

I'd love to see them lose in the first round. The butthurt would be of phenomenal proportions.

You know, I think the Caps only went after Shattenkirk so no other team could get him, namely the Pens, who, as GMJR had led them to believe, were really really interested and ready to go all in for him. Now that the Caps mortgaged their future, GMJR will take a mere 3rd rounder and acquire the kind of guy his team really needs.
