Possible 1st Round Matchups

Postby thehockeyguru » Tue Mar 31, 2015 2:08 pm

The east is really shaping up to have some interesting 1st round matchups. I'm interested in hearing what matchups everyone is looking forward too. If the season ended now both the Rangers vs. Burins and Capitals vs. Habs would be very good series.

For being division winners neither of those teams will have series that they can feel comfortable about.

I'd like to see the Rangers vs the Capitals and either Ottawa or Florida overtake Boston for the last spot.

Give me Habs vs Bruins, Wings vs Lightning, Rangers vs Isles and Pens vs Caps

That would be my dream east match up as a fan of hockey.

Ducks vs Kings, Hawks vs Blues, Nucks vs Jets/Flames and Preds vs Wild in the west.

My wife and I were so excited to catch one of these storied games up in Montreal (Game 3, maybe?). The 1-0 home team loss in overtime was a tremendous letdown. :(

How is a 1-0 loss in OT during the playoffs a let down? That's exciting hockey.

I don't think the score is very indicative of whether it was exciting or not. 1-0 can be good. More often than not, its bad. It would be fun to be there as a neutral party though to watch all of the people squirm.

I think a Habs OT win makes that even more unforgettable, is the point...but perhaps that's just my wishful thinking of it for when I go and take in a Habs playoff game...

I'm not a big fan of the low scoring games. I was at Kings / Pens last month and while it was good hockey I didnt think it was exciting.

Scoring can be low as long as there are legitimate opportunities. If scoring chances are high, I do not care how many end up in the net. I find scoring chances are what's exciting, not goals.

lol exactly. That crowd was on friggin amphetamines that night. To not even get the joy of seeing one home goal with the Bell Centre rocking was a colossal disappointment. It wasn't the most entertaining game either...as others have mentioned, 1-0 hockey can either be great or immensely boring.
