Just watched Uncle Gary's press conference. Notable that he never says the Quebec team application was denied, just deferred. I expect that there will be a 32nd team in the next few years.
He also noted that coming up with 2 new team rosters was seen as a mitigating factor in not approving Quebec at this time.

Not really true, but that's a popular sentiment.

Quality teams breed a fanbase. Carolina did very well when their team was a winner. They did so well, in fact, that Karmanos put his AHL team in Charlotte. Much like our beloved Pens, when the team sucks, the attendance sucks.

31 is such a stupid number of teams to have in the league. I hate that above all. I wonder if the AHL will now expand to 31 or if LV will be co-affiliates somewhere.

sorry to blow that theory out of the water for you.........my father's side of the family goes back several generations in Georgia and I have been a hockey fan since the Atlanta Flames days. you know what they say though, there's always one. well, technically 2 because my older brother got me into hockey when we were kids.
