Ward has had such a weird career arc. His first year he's at the top of the world and it's been a slow steady decline from then

Sure hope we aren't saying that about Murray in a decade.

You almost feel like they are just re-signing Ward for the purposes of exposing him. That second year is only $3.1 million (first year is $3.5). Alex Nedeljkovic really impressed me this year with Niagara, looks like they might have their guy...

Though, I gotta say, I'm really surprised Anton Khudobin is not kicking around in this league in any legitimate way...really surprised. He's really talented...

The Anaheim Ducks have signed defenceman Sami Vatanen to a four-year contract extension through the 2019-2020 season [...] the deal is worth a total of $19.5 million.

Okposo must be asking for a ton. The Isles still have a good deal of cap room without too many other big names to sign, right?

He may be, he may not be...last time I pinged someone on this they said, "the Isles haven't even picked up the phone" (paraphrasing)...

That's a trade, not a proper extension. Start a new thread.

Technically, it's an extension because it happened after he was traded...

Is the pick that was in the Anderson deal the one the Pens traded for Kessel?

Yeah. How often does a team end up with both the first and last picks in the first round?

So the 1st round pick we traded to Toronto ends up costing us exactly one spot in the draft order, is that correct?

Hmm...maybe I'm misremembering, but I think we got our own 2nd back, pick 61...

According to this, that is correct:

The 2nd was what we initially traded for Winnik if memory serves.

The Pengweenies have two second round picks. I have no recollection of where the second one came from....

Bonino or Perron trade?

If I understand their wording, the pick was originally Anaheim's and was sent to Vancouver, then sent to the Pens. I think it was part of the Bonino-Sutter deal.
