Gudas did play a little bit under control this past season...but still, I wish he'd go away from this division...and league...

On Friday morning, the Capitals and Flyers announced that they have exchanged blueliners, with Washington sending 32-year-old rearguard Matt Niskanen to Philadelphia and receiving 29-year-old bruiser Radko Gudas in return. The one-for-one has an added wrinkle, however, as the Flyers have also retained a hair more than $1 million of Gudas’ $3.35-million cap hit, which is set to expire following this season. In addition to paying part of Gudas’ salary, Philadelphia will also assume the entirety of the two years at $5.75 million that remain on Niskanen’s contract.

Seems long for a dude who turns 31 before the start of the season and is 100% dependent on his wheels.

I didn't like him T $4M. $2.75M is better, but still too much. At least it isn't the Pens giving him that.

Hopefully you don't blast Rutherford for signing Johnson if % of the cap is shrug worthy.

Further to @TSNBobMcKenzie's report on Erik Karlsson, I'm told the deal is indeed done: 8 years max deal, north of $11 million per season... the Sharks with a huge move in keeping the superstar D from hitting the market.

I'm a big fan of his...big big fan...but man, that's tough...I guess you figure, I'll deal with the consequences when they become consequential...but I wonder if they have the sense that Joe Pavelski is gonna walk...and just want to keep another RHS.

We should call about Justin Braun...

EliteProspects/NHLNumbers is showing that cap hit as $11.45m $11.5m.

That signing completes a condition on the trade, so Ottawa will also be receiving a 2021 2nd rounder. That pick would have been a 2021 1st rounder if the Sharks reached the Cup Final.
