Could the Olympic break be used for makeup games if the NHL/NHLPA don't participate in the Olympics?
I believe that is the plan. As MR25 said that might not always be possible.

Caps/Flyers postponed now leaving Lightning @ VGK as the only game remaining tonight. If you're only going to play one game I guess that's a good one.

GAME ON
What channel?

ESPN proper doesn't seem to have any games this year.

Serious question: how many games has primary ESPN aired this year? Two? Maybe three?

People can moan and complain about the coverage on NBC and NBCSN, but there were usually two or sometimes three games being aired per day. I don't think ESPN has done anything on the main channel since opening night and the coverage on Sportscenter is just as nonexistent.

True. It also seems like there aren't many TNT games. ESPN+ including NHL.tv is a big deal but for those of us who aren't subbed, there definitely seems like less hockey on TV.

Yup, there you go. No games in November or December, one in February, two in March. At least it looks like ABC will have a good amount in March. They definitely back-loaded the schedule.

I watched an ESPN Penguin game that isn't on that list. But yeah, it's been bad. NBCSN had hockey just about every night.

Derp, it was actually Pens/Oilers on TNT two weeks ago.

Meh, I'm not concerned. NBCSN had hockey on three nights a week or whatever, but that channel only existed to play hockey. It's actually going away 12/31 IIRC. It was NHL Network with exclusive rights, basically...

Cable is for old fuddy duddies...I'm not overly concerned. We knew what we were getting into it by getting in bed with ESPN and TNT, which pimp NBA - a much more national game, but not at all a regional game - whenever possible...it's about getting pimped out too, getting quality streaming, etc. 46 games on cable versus 34 isn't anything to worry about...

NBCSN carried a ton of sports car racing.

NBC never showed games until after New Year's anyway. Think of TNT and NBCSN and ESPN and NBC

In you live in the Pens market, cable is the only legal option to watch them.

My setup at home is a not-so-legal version of cable which allows for all of the local markets plus TSN/Sportsnet (among many other things), but that doesn't necessarily solve my problem when travelling and somebody wants to watch a game that isn't available.

Nah. I have accepted that ESPN+ is subpar in terms of quality.
