A vast majority of cap space is used up out there, and teams aren't looking to spend a ton of real cash...this seems like a discount for me...another RW who can really shoot on Montreal...

Caps are over the cap with 20 guys on the roster, plus Siegenthaler still unsigned.

Maybe package Kempny and Jensen to someone like Detroit for a 5th. $5M cap and two 3rd paid D...

Doubt Detroit wants Jensen back

I can't imagine that Kempny is good enough to make Jensen and him positive value in this economy...

I think they can move Kempny and get something back, because he can actually play in a support role and be fine...he can be a sidekick 4...

Jensen is a player who can skate really well, but is very bad defensively...it's tough to figure out how he only had like two points last year...but that can't be a positive value contract...I think Kempny could return a mid round pick...

That's why I was thinking package them for basically nothing. It could be even Kempny, Jensen, 5th for a 7th. Just clearing cap, the other team not really "paying", but not like the Bjugstad trade.

Yeah, I'm thinking you can't do that with a 5th...not with both and no retention...and there's some term there, 2 more on Kempny, 3 more on Jensen...I don't think you can package that together, especially for basically an equal swap of picks...

To bring it back to us, would you take on Jensen if he also came with Aleksei Protas and a conditional 4th for Riikola (just to get him out of the way and give him a chance)...the condition is we get a 4th if Riikola plays 33% of the games in 2021-22, otherwise it becomes a 5th.

Toews doesn't get enough press around the league...

I also hope this gets Sebastian Aho into the NHL full time...

Who are their other potential casualties then? Marchessault? Pacioretty? They're a million over with only 21 rostered

I think they can avoid major surgery by using Nick Holden at $1.7 mil to make a dent...even with Schmidt going, I don't know that he's one of the six best d-men in the org...

Can't wait to see him break the all-time games played record as a member of a team not named San Jose.

Career Games Played:

1- Gordie Howe 1,767
2- Mark Messier 1,756
3- Jaromir Jagr 1,733
4- Ron Francis 1,731
5- Patrick Marleau 1,723

If the season is rumored to be 50-55 games, there's a likely chance he'll be moved before game #1768.

I thought they were pushing for a full 82 game season? No All Star game, no break, etc.? Or has that changed?

I think they've already pushed back the season by a few weeks (?) to early Jan and maybe expect to do so again.

That's the push. Looking to start around the holidays.

A lot folks in hockey circles think that's just not very likely without a real, real wonky schedule that won't really benefit anyone...70 might be a better number. Maybe a Canadian division to limit cross-border travel...maybe more home and road sets to minimize travel...lots to consider still, obviously...

I can't see a structure that suppresses the amount of Canadian teams eligible for the post-season (clustering them in a division, at least for seeding purposes).

There may need to be some sacrifices to better the chances of fans being allowed in...pro hockey isn't sustainable without gate...
