Draft lottery was tonight. It's over. No one knows who is picking 1.

Yup...

Imagine the tears if the Pens lose to MTL and win the lottery.

Pens will squeak through the first round, losing 7 starters to vague soft tissue injuries.

If they play.

NHL media remain in flux while awaiting finalized coverage plans ahead of restart
https://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/nh ... -1.5627840

Looks like there is still a lot of unknowns about the restart, but commentators will work remotely for sure.
It still hasn't been decided if games will be broadcast with fake crowd noise. Many English and European soccer league games are being shown with artificial noise.
This is the big one, though. I haven't watched any of the restart soccer games so I'd love to hear from someone who has watched both and which they prefer.

I have, however, watched plenty of the restart tennis exhibitions and one tourney is using piped in crowd sounds. It's horrible. There's clearly some intern sitting at a sound board hurriedly pushing buttons after each point. There's a weird delay between the end of the point and the "crowd" reaction. It sounds like a video game.

I feel like they'd have to, otherwise they'd have to tape delay games or something because I don't see them wanting to hear players dropping gratuitous F bombs on NBC

I'd like to have the option. Give me two feeds, one with fake crowd noise and one without and let me choose.

I've said this for NFL before but would be great here. Air a premium channel, I'd pay, with players mic'd up. Would be great

"As of Monday, June 29, the NHL has had in excess of 250 Players report to Club training/practice facilities for optional participation in Phase 2 activities. There have been in excess of 1,450 COVID-19 tests administered to this group of Players. Those tests have resulted in a total of 15 Players returning confirmed positive test results for COVID-19.

I think that makes 26 total positives.

So Edmonton and Toronto it is for the hubs. Canada won't understand what that big shiny trophy is being awarded on their soil since it's only happened once in the last 26 years.

Old board friend @saracivian had an interesting article on John Forslund's apparent low ball, attendance based contract from the Canes. He's still negotiating, but also fielding offers from other teams potentially.

He's one of the best, and a stupid move from the Canes should he leave. He dates back to the Hartford days...

Yup. He called the last game in Hartford...I think Kevin Dineen had the last goal if memory serves...
