That's awesome.

"Now I've got to take matters into my own hands next time this happens and I get to swing my stick across his forehead and I shouldn't get suspended then."

This is the kind of reaction that i have wanted from players (and coaches, and management) for a long time. Start openly calling out the hypocrisy and bull that the league oozes. Call out bad reffing, call out bad league actions or non-actions. It's the only way that things are going to change.

But it's a lot easier to sell players on a mid-season beach vacation than a mid-season trip to St Louis for a meaningless hockey game.

It's been 30 years since it's been in Pittsburgh. Actually, to the day exactly.

So it's due to be back...soon?

With 6,327 consecutive sellouts there is no need to spotlight the Pens.

I don't know if Crosby would announce ahead of time his retirement, but if enough notice was given, they would be a slam dunk that year.

TIL that you can make quite a lot of money being a good (not necessarily great) player in the Czech Extraleague. "Sport" daily started publishing their - allegedly precise - estimates of pre-bonus salaries (salaries are not public in that league). Most of the numbers are behind a paywall, but here is what one can see:

41st - 50th place:
https://isport.blesk.cz/clanek/hokej-ti ... zinec.html
all allegedly making CZK 300K/month (i.e. CZK 3.6M/year. Given that CZK/USD lately fluctuated in the 20-24 range, that implies USD 150K to USD 180K - but the real value is probably quite higher thanks to lower cost of living)
Representative players:
Rudolf Červený (Mountfield HK)
Johan Harju (Pardubice)

31st-40th:
https://isport.blesk.cz/clanek/hokej-ti ... -roku.html
all alegedly making CZK 350K/month (i.e. USD 175K- USD 210K /year)
Libor Kašík (Zlín)
Jakub Klepiš (Mladá Boleslav)

21st-30th:
https://isport.blesk.cz/clanek/hokej-ti ... inova.html
between CZK 380K /month and CZK 400K/month
The 380K players are:
Michal Bulíř (Liberec)
Lukáš Kašpar (Litvínov)
Latvian Robert Bukarts is among the 400K/month

The top 20 will be revealed later.

They scheduled the ProBowl and the ASG on the same weekend so sports fans can spend more time with their families, right?

The ASG has actually been pretty watchable since the move to the 3 on 3 tourney. I'm also looking forward to the Elite Women's 3 on 3 game.

The big issue for me is too much down time. The games themselves are more interesting, but you spend as much time waiting between periods and games as you do watching hockey... It just drags on a bit much for my liking because of that.
