The Brendan Smith contract is one of those things where very, very few people thought it was a good idea...fortunately, all of those people were employed by the Rangers...

Now I’m sad because I just had the realization that BB and that kid are probably closer in age than I am to BB

Jagr's garage league saga, part 3:

Loss 1:4 at home to a team that has no chance to make the play-offs. Jagr without any points. The only silver lining is that teams 4-6 lost as well, so Jagr's Kladno is still 3rd, with 4 games left in the regular season.

Don Cherry has stopped ageing more so than any person I can think of. In fact, it looks like time is going backward.

Meh. It is good for the Caps in that he is consistent. But he is a dozen goal, sub-30 point kind of guy. Second PK, maybe 3rd PP unit/filler on PP. Not tough but doesn't shy from contact. $3M would have been good. $3.5 is meh. In a few years it might qualify as good.

I'm trying to think of 5+ year deals for bottom six players that worked out...I don't think this will be a bad deal, but I'd like to hear some examples of ones that were beneficial the whole way...

I'm not looking this up but wasn't Brooks Laich a 3C when the caps signed him to that long term deal? Not that it worked out...just sayin'

He played all over that lineup all the time. Tough to pin him down really. He eventually settled into that role and then 4C...
