Reddit is definitely the best place to look for sane and rational hockey fans
Hockey Randomness
Unless there's have a small Flyers message board with about 30 users, there's no good place to look for sane rational hockey fans. And let's be honest, even the small message boards are sprinkled with dummies...Reddit is definitely the best place to look for sane and rational hockey fans

If nothing else we might finally get decent NHL hats.

Who made the best jerseys? CCM?
Hockey Randomness
Design-wise? Hard to beat the CCM era. As for wearability, I actually prefer the fit of the Adidas or Reeboks.

Buccigross posted about the NHL returning to Atlanta and it’s been picking up steam the past few days. Apparently the rumor is expansion with Houston joining as well.

Strong branding in Houston tho
I've always wanted a Windsor Spitfires shirt.

They spelled contraction wrong.

It would be hilarious if the NHL is the first league to exceed 32 teams. I’d much rather see Arizona and another team relocate. Florida maybe?
Hockey Randomness
Just move PhoenixArizona to Houston and be done with it. Atlanta doesn't deserve another shot

Atlanta is the 7th largest market in the US. Houston is 8. They’re the only cities in the top 10 without a franchise. I don’t think the Thrashers failed because the market couldn’t support the team. They failed because the ownership was absolutely dog ****.

This. More teams is a very bad idea.We need fewer teams, not more teams.

The issue here is that 34 is a **** number and the Monk in me needs them to go to 36 asap.
Hockey Randomness
Or better yet go back to 32.

you are correct in this. I hate when these rumors come up because all I see are uneducated (on this issue) people posting about "ATL couldn't support 2 different teams!" which is untrue on both. the Flames owner needed money so he sold the team to Calgary and back then, the league really didn't care what you did. the Thrashers were sold to guys that were forced to take the hockey team but really only wanted the basketball team. not sure why since the Hawks always suck.Atlanta is the 7th largest market in the US. Houston is 8. They’re the only cities in the top 10 without a franchise. I don’t think the Thrashers failed because the market couldn’t support the team. They failed because the ownership was absolutely dog ****.
the Thrashers, and their entire expansion class were mis-handled from the start. compare the expansion drafts of the Nash/ATL/CBJ/Wild expansion and those of VGK and SEA. it's night and day.
even the original owner of ATL did everything wrong. it took forever for the Thrashers to get involved in youth hockey in the metro area and even then, all they did was have a youth program running out of their practice arena which is a rink that pre-dated their arrival.
they never tried to build a single rink they way Dallas did.
the new group is hoping to build an arena in the Northern suburbs which is where most of the hockey families live. while I love the idea of an arena in that area, I think ATL would be better suited for an AHL market rather than NHL. Atlanta is a city of transplants and those transplants never give up their childhood teams plus they raise their children to cheer for those teams as well. the Braves are the only exception and why? because they actually win ****.
