Paying players for what they’ve done in the past continues... I don’t like it.MaxPac signs an extension at 4 yrs, 28 bills...
VGK's social media announcement is pretty good...

Considering E.Kane got $7M recently, this will actually help to keep the salaries lower.

Poorly worded. The NHL seems to habitually hand out high priced contracts to guys hitting their downside because of what they did in their primes.
See: Zach Parise or Milan Lucic
Maybe if they get 2 years of PAC return to 30 goal man then they’re happy but I don’t like the end of a players prime and heading into a decline to take up that much.

That's the de facto setting based on UFA age (formerly 31, now 27)...
Meanwhile, a GM and a coach last how long on average? They'll take the three years of good and deal with the bad if they still have a job then...
That said, MaxPac's deal is a good one...only 4 years...that's very reasonable...7x7 would have been a nightmare. 4x7 is smart and you get a good scorer that doesn't have to be the focal point of the offense. Needs to be a better playoff player though...

All MaxPac has to bank on is Fleury to get back to his regular post-season stats and he'll be fine.

The Parise (and Suter) deals were off the wall when they happened. Not really valid examples. However, both arise and lucic were 28 when they signed their deals.
A better example of what you are apparently point towards would be Marleau, Lundqvist, Burns, even Pominville.

That's unexpected. Did Ilitch give him a dump truck of cash to take over the Wings since the league has obviously passed Holland by?

Yzerman's trade history isn't all that great. Not bad, just nothing special. he did like to flip players though. There were a few non-3-way-trade 3-way-trades. (ex: Streit)

Hopefully it isn't something health related. Seems very abrupt.

A source told the Free Press that Yzerman told Lightning players he was going home to Detroit. Yzerman has continued to live in the metro Detroit area during his tenure with the Lightning.

smart of him to plead NC. I'm also satisfied with the NHL's punishment for a first offense. if he has another, throw the book at him.Austin Watson suspended the entire preseason and 27 regular games stemming from domestic abuse that he pleaded no contest to this summer...
I also hope that Bettman tells Voynov to pound sand.
