I can only imagine that he'll be a former Mercyhurst player soon.

Not his first rodeo with getting kicked out of school either. He was supposed to be on a team at ASU with Austin Lemieux and was booted before his first game for unspecified reasons. @mikey, any insight on why he might have been kicked? I can't find anything online, but I have a guess why he was.

No ramp to the bathroom downstairs where the woman that owned it was at the time

Why are people acting like the wheelchair had someone in it

I don't think that they are. Had he pushed her down he'd be arrested now not just getting slammed on social media for being a prick.

He was kicked off his last college team so he was probably on a short leash.

It's despicable what he did so I get why they did it.

Got drunk and misbehaved at a college bar as a college kid? If his last name isn't briere nobody even cares. It was a dick move, I bet a lot of people have similar moves on their resume while drunk in their early 20s

Thank God there weren't cameras around when I was that kid's age. I'm completely lame, but probably would've been canceled a couple of times back then.

I disagree with this. The video was initially posted in most places without mentioning his name or his dad’s name. In fact, that’s considered “doxing” on most subreddits and the posts would’ve been removed.

That video would’ve made the rounds regardless. It’s a super dick move that was caught on super clear video. It’s viral ready. Also, I would bet most of us haven’t done something similar, even while drunk in our 20s. Maybe that thought crosses your mind but a normal person laughs it off and doesn’t follow through with that intrusive thought.

Do you think the owner of the wheelchair is just going to walk out of there...?

Being a Briere definitely helps, but that video would be everywhere regardless.

normalizing this behavior (not saying that you did but lots of people are) by saying "boy will be boys" is part of the problem. I agree that his family connections are why it's an even bigger story but it would be viral regardless. it was a dick move and likely damaged that wheelchair. those Quickie chairs are well over $1k.
at the age of 24, Briere should learn that his actions have consequences whether he's drunk or not and IMO, he absolutely should be vilified.
if I was on the ad board of Mercyhurst, I would strap him into a wheelchair for 48 hours so that he could understand what this woman deals with every day of her life.

On the cost of the wheelchair, a friend of the person whose wheelchair was pushed down the stairs started a gofundme to cover the repair costs, which were estimated to be about $1,500. The gofundme was disabled by the organizer at about $8k raised. They noted in an update that any extra funds will be used to "help others that are in need and in similar situations."
