‘96

There wasn’t a loser point back then either, right?

The ‘13 Hawks were 33-7-5, which is less impressive but still something else.

Really, 1994 thru 1996 Wings had a team and they all failed...

The famous 2-3-2 quarterfinal vs. San Jose. Jamie Baker. Just about the biggest upset we've seen at the hands of the expansion Sharks.
1995 They go 12-2 in the West, they roll it hard. And the Devils sweep them.
1996 - The Winnipeg series wasn't as close as the six games looked, but St. Louis (#5) gave them everything they could handle on the back of Jon Casey. It's funny, as a reward for Casey's play in a 7-game series that the Blues led 3-2. Casey gets posterized...again...two of the most famous moments in the history of hockey: Lemieux's goal in game 2 of the '91 Final and Yzerman's goal in double overtime of game 7 of the '96 WCSF are both on Casey.

Finally, they make some changes...including shipping out Ciccarelli, bringing in Shanahan, etc. and they work everyone for two straight years...each year though the SCF was really the WCF...Philadelphia and Washington (yargh) put up no challenge...

That goal was Bruh-utal. Can't imagine losing a series on that shot.

That's one of my favorite goals of all-time actually. It can still bring a tear to my eye when I see it...with Gary Thorne's call...

"Gretzky had it, lost it...Yzerman picks up, Yzerman moving...blueline chance....SCORE! STEVE YZERMAN! DETROIT WINS!" *chills*

He did some Kings regular season games a couple years ago while Bob Murray was dealing with health issues and, uh, yeah, he picked up right where he left off in that regard...

Never knew the Nordiques were set to change their colors, uniforms, and logo right before they moved to Denver. Nothing will be the original, but these aren't bad:

I was listening to a 1st round VGK/Kings game on XM Radio and the Kings radio announcer kept referring to "Mar-chey-so". seriously? dude's been playing in your division all year and you don't know how to pronounce his name? :face:

and deservedly so. I've heard a lot of names mispronounced over the years, no doubt on purpose but that is by far the absolute worst.

Agreed. Over the course of his career, I guess his comparables would be someone like Shanahan or Robitaille. Almost a PPG over the course of his career, and just a prolific scorer with multiple cups to boot.
