I don't know how Capfriendly goes about getting their **** so quickly, but 8 years, $92MM for Ek65. Cap hit is $11.5MM per season, $53MM is signing bonuses (57.6%), his total compensation in 19-20 will be $14.5MM ($11MM in signing bonus), and 57.6% of the contract will be paid out over the first four seasons. This deal is BANANAS. EK65, Burns, and Pickle will count $26.5MM against the cap through the 2024-25 season. Karlsson is 29, Burns is 34, Vlasic is 32, and each has some form of a NTC, EK full NTC, Burns submits three teams, Vlasic NTC until final three years then submits three teams. Karlsson and his 1.5 ankles will have the third highest cap hit in the league next season.

Couture is also 30 and about to enter year one of an eight year contract at $8MM/year with a 3 team NTC. They're **** old.

The west is wide open these days. That had to factor into this awful awful decision.

Full NMC, and is basically buyout-proof.

EliteProspects, NHLNumbers, and CapFriendly now all showing the contract as being 11.5m

Jets trade Trouba to NYR for something called a Pionk and the first round pick that the Jets originally traded to NYR for Hayes at the deadline.

50 people have voting rights. The voting is somewhat complicated - one round takes place in the middle of the season, the other round at the end of the season. The points from both rounds are summed up. Then, the 10 players with the highest vote totals are re-voted again in the final round.

Every Czech player is eligible. 43 players received at least 1 point.

(continuing from the post above)
21. Petr Zámorský, Mountfield HK 23 (22/1), 22. Pavel Francouz, Colorado Eagles 16 (5/11), 23. – 24. Petr Holík, HC Kometa Brno 13 (13/0) a Šimon Hrubec, HC Oceláři Třinec 13 (0/13), 25. – 26. Ondřej Kaše, Anaheim Ducks 11 (11/0) a Filip Chytil, New York Rangers 11 (3/8), 27. Roman Will, Bílí Tygři Liberec 8 (7/1), 28. Ladislav Šmíd, Bílí Tygři Liberec 7 (0/7), 29. Radim Šimek, San Jose Sharks 6 (6/0), 30. Michal Řepík, Viťaz Podolsk 5 (0/5), 31. – 32. Roman Polák, Dallas Stars 4 (4/0) a Martin Zaťovič, HC Kometa Brno 4 (3/1), 33. Radek Faksa, Dallas Stars 3 (3/0), 34. – 35. Michal Bulíř, Metallurg Magnitogorsk 2 (2/0) a Lukáš Rousek, HC Sparta Praha 2 (1/1), 36. – 43. Josef Kořenář, San José Barracuda 1 (1/0), Matěj Machovský, HC Sparta Praha 1 (1/0), Jan Štencel, HC Kometa Brno 1 (1/0), Hynek Zohorna, Pelicans Lahti 1 (1/0), Lukáš Dostál, Ilves Tampere 1 (1/0), Jakub Lauko, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 1 (0/1), Jan Kolář, Amur Chabarovsk 1 (0/1) a David Musil, HC Oceláři Třinec 1 (0/1).

It's from Larry Brooks so who knows the validity, but the Jets apparently nuked themselves on trading Trouba by not allowing his camp to talk to interested teams about an extension.

Even so, and I know he's a problem to negotiate with, but that's a paltry return for me...

They were just literally tired of dealing with Trouba and wanted to move on.

That's actually some pretty forward thinking for an athlete. It's her salary that's going to carry them into retirement, not his.

I don't think it's as pragmatic as that. I think it's more like, "I want her to be happy. I want to be happy. We can both be our happiest in New York. I don't owe my team or the league anything other than my play on the ice". And he's right.
