You get what you get when you take Craig Adams over Cecil Dillon...
I didn't get a chance to see what his other options were.

I won't claim to be familiar with Dillon, but based on his stats why wouldn't that person take a player who was scoring 20-25 goals in a 48 game season?

Maybe they're suicidal? Dillon is easily a top-100 winger of all time, and almost certainly top-75...Craig Adams was never a top-75 winger in the NHL at any contemporaneous moment in time...

Tampa dumps Ryan Callahan's contract on Ottawa for Mike Condon...Tampa has three backup goalies and only one of them kind of belongs in the league and it's McIlhenney...

I'll assume this means Tampa and Point are ready to announce a deal.

It also brings Ottawa to about $16 million in cap hits of players that won't be playing for them...Callahan, Gaborik, MacArthur and Phaneuf buyout. That's more than they are spending on their 7 NHL d-men ($12.6 mil)...

I believe Gusev out-produced Panarin's KHL numbers, no?
Not up through the same age. They are less than a year apart in age. Gusev has done very will the last few years (much more an assist guy than a goal guy, think 20g/55a). Gusev lead the KHL in points last year, Kovalchuk the year before, Mozyakin 4 of the 5 years before that. Mozyakin is now 38 years old so he was leading that league in his mid-30's. "Can't hack it in the NHL" guys like Nigel Dawes and Linus Omark also put up points in the KHL.

So, who knows what 27 year old Gusev will do when he steps on the NHL ice, playing lots of games against the Flyers, Bruins, Caps...

Vasilevskiy's $9.5Mx8 is $44.5M in signing bonuses, 31.5M in salary.

$12M, $11M, $11M, $9M, $10M, $9M, $8M, $6M
x, NMC, NMC, NMC, NMC, M-NTC, M-NTC,M-NTC

M-NTC = 10 team ok list
His GAA goes up in the playoffs, while his Sv% goes down in the playoffs.

Certainly not as bad as Florida's goaltending move this summer, but still a good bit over done.

Shattenkirk bought out by NYR
So, facing a desperate need to get their payroll under the NHL’s $81.5 million salary cap, the Rangers on Wednesday informed the 30-year-old Shattenkirk, a New Rochelle native, that they will buy out the remaining two years of his contract during the 48-hour buyout window that opens at midnight Thursday and closes at midnight Saturday.

His agent, Jordan Neumann, confirmed the news. Shattenkirk, whose wife delivered the couple’s first child in early July, finished his Rangers career with seven goals and 44 assists and a minus-29 rating in 119 games.

The Rangers made it official with a news release Thursday afternoon.

“Today’s decision was a very difficult one,” Rangers president John Davidson said in the release. “Kevin is a great person and teammate and he was extremely proud to be a New York Ranger. We wish him and his family all the best going forward.”

Removing Shattenkirk’s contract from their books will save the Rangers $5.17 million this season, which will get them under the cap and should provide enough space to sign their two remaining restricted free agents, defenseman Tony DeAngelo and forward Brendan Lemieux.

There still will be a price to pay, however. Shattenkirk’s contract, which had a $6.65 million cap hit, will count as $6.08 million on the Rangers’ payroll next season, and $1.433 million in each of the following two years.

not mentioned in the article is the cap hit from this year is 1.483m.

That 6.08m cap hit next year though, ouch.

Also, the @spittinchiclets podcast is ecstatic to announce the official launch of the #PinkWhitney starting September 1st in the United States. Canada will be soon to follow. We can’t thank @NewAmsterdam enough for all the help in making this idea becoming a reality. #HowAreYa https://t.co/wfmFwQCtCr
