Kings Robyn Regehr tells me he's calling it a career.
The guy's a writer for The Fourth Period, I think.

Jamie Benn records lowest points per game (1.06) by an Art Ross winner since Elmer Lach in 1947-48

Toronto fired almost as many people as they could. 18 scouts, GM & coaching staff.

I think I have my next Be a GM team (after Mikey's awards).

Hopefully Crosby makes the SC and Conn Smythe his goals going forward!

Jamie Benn was just announced having to need hip surgery. They said he played with this injury most of the season.

What an exciting season.
87 - The number of points recorded by Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn, who swooped in and stole the Art Ross Trophy with a four-point performance on the final day of the season. It's the lowest tally for an Art Ross winner in a non-lockout season since 1967-68, when Stan Mikita won the title with 87 points.

1.091 - Sidney Crosby's league-best points-per-game average after racking up 84 points in 77 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins. It's the first time in 67 years that no qualified player averaged more than 1.1 points per game over the course of the season; Elmer Lach led in 1947-48 with a 1.017 PPG average.

3.06 - The average number of power plays per team per game in 2014-15, the lowest total since record-keeping began in the early 1960s. To put this incredible stat in perspective, teams averaged 5.85 power plays per game in 2005-06, the first season following the last lockout.
And conversely, what the NHL wants...
16 - The number of points separating the Presidents' Trophy-winning New York Rangers (113) from the Calgary Flames (97), who had the lowest point total of any playoff qualifier. It's the smallest gap between No. 1 and No. 16 in league history, beating the previous record of 18 points set in 2003-04.

7 - The number of teams that qualified for the 2014-15 Stanley Cup playoffs after missing the postseason the year before (Calgary, Nashville, N.Y. Islanders, Ottawa, Vancouver, Washington, Winnipeg). It's the largest playoff turnover in league history.

I'm surprised no one has said anything about the Darryl Sutter crap that came out yesterday.

player's locking their coach out of the locker room seems...weird...especially since he just won 2 cups in 4 years.

No I suppose not, though it didn't happen at the time reported...well, Deano says it's true then I believe it obviously...when Larry Brooks says it's true, I don't...so my apologies on that...

Besides the Penguins series, the game I'm most excited about is game 3 at the MTS Centre...that's going to be a powerful moment when they just let you hear that crowd support that team...it's gonna be great.

Bruins fire Chiarelli. They gave him enough rope to hang himself with. The Ray Shero treatment.
