Can the Sharks with a full lineup or the Blues beat the Bruins in a 7-game series, especially with Rask playing the way he has been lately?
Hockey Randomness
Yes.

New research shows Pittsburgh to be birthplace of pro hockey
A historical marker on Pittsburgh’s North Side denotes the spot of the first professional football game played, coming in 1892.
If Perrysville native John Schalcosky has his way, a similar marker soon will be erected in Oakland, noting the city as the birthplace of professional hockey, as well.
Schalcosky is the proprietor of the Odd Pittsburgh historical brand, which includes Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts as well as a podcast distributed by KDKA radio.
He recently uncovered newspaper clippings that prove players in the Western Pennsylvania Hockey League were being paid for their services in 1901. It’s the earliest known documentation of professionalism in hockey.

Philly acquires the UFA rights to Kevin Hayes for a 5th.
He was a real disappointment for me in Winnipeg this year. If Hayes ever shot the puck or played hard, he'd be a force. He's really talented, he can dish...but he just likes to hang out with the boys really. Winnipeg this year, a contract year, a deadline add on a championship roster was a chance for him to show what he could do in a big spot and I thought he was a ghost...again...

Ryan O'Reilly has the weirdest curve I've seen this side of John LeClair. How the **** does he play with this thing?
Hockey Randomness
It's really good for wraparounds
Still not quite as weird as Vinny Prospal for me though:

We have signed forward Jeff Skinner to an eight-year contract with an average annual value of $9 million

It is, but man, it's tough to watch a 26 year old, 40 goal scorer who you just gave up four draft picks for essentially (though, it was a steal) on a team that absolutely cannot score walk out that door...
The line was Skinner-Eichel-Rhino for much of the year, sometimes Evan Rodrigues would slot in...but check the game notes, there's no one else on the team with 20 goals or 40 points...Pommer had 16 goals, Sheary had 34 points...
Then you look at the cap and go, well, they have like $30 million in cap room without Skinner, an owner willing to spend to compete...so what are you gonna spend your money on? Well, you're throwing $9 million a year at a, what, $7 or $7.5 million player? One who works well with your only hope of relevance in Jack Eichel?
Other than Jarmo Kekelainen, this deal hurts very little...but all that doesn't mean I disagree with your brief, but salient, point...

I agree that they had to make that deal, mikey. It’s going to be interesting to see how they handle the rest of their cap space.

I agree that was a deal they probably had to make, just feels like they are going to regret it at some point.

Sure, but here's the thing about that too...ya think Jason Botterill is going to be on the job when Jeff Skinner is 31? Yeah, probably not, eh? And if he is, that probably means they won something at some point in there...so [former assistant general manager is an unfortunate acronym] JB has an opportunity to help Buffalo get off the mat, and he wants to continue to work in the NHL after this, there's really very little risk to him in this I think...

Seems good for Buffalo. I wrote that I would give Skinner $8 million without hesitation and it seems ok in hindsight. (I know that Buffalo really, really, wanted Skinner and that is why they paid him $9, but still)
