They don’t move my needle. It’s not as difficult as I think a lot of fans think. In game, I’m sure it’s a bit more challenging. I’m always shocked that most goalies are even close to getting there. I’d have my thumb up my butt if someone tried that on me.

Friend of mine with a casual interest in hockey was asking me about lacrosse goals, and why the Canes one is such a big deal.
Tangential to that; how does the high stick rule interact with this unique shot delivery? If at all.
If it is in play, what part of the stick? The whole stick or just the blade making contact with the puck?

In play. Where the stick makes last contact with the puck before entering the net is my interpretation. Prior to it being directed at the net, the "below the shoulder" rule ought to apply.

Nice, thanks.

Would the high stick ruling there be shoulder or crossbar, considering goals are judged by the crossbar and not the shoulder?
Maybe I'm overthinking it.

Well, I mean, like I said...the high sticking rule for pucks not directed into the goal is shoulder height. So if you did the lacrosse move in the middle of the rink and kept it at your waist, you should be fine...if you brought it above your shoulder, the high touch whistle would blow (as the offending team is in immediate contact with the puck after a high touch)...when the puck is being directed towards the goal, it would need to be at or lower than the height of the crossbar. Svechnikov successfully checked off the boxes of legality here...

Oh man. I hope someone lacrosse moves through the neutral zone with the puck at shoulder height.

hey @mikey can you think of any arenas in the nhl where the broadcast cameras are such that the home team goalie isn't on the right side of your screen in the 1st period?

Hopefully Jagr doesn't try to buy a spot in the lineup.

pretty sure all my ATL Bruins friends will be pissed if Preds are the "home team". they always drive to Nashville for the 1 game a year that's an easy drive. pretty sure that Prague is not easily driveable.Just announced:

forslund and tracy used to be one of my favorite duos
this garbage is why they no longer are
the only thing worse would be mears-zee and tracy
