Trotz is the new head coach of the Islanders. Sutter retired from coaching the Kings yesterday.

Brooks Orpik, Two Time Stanley Cup Champion and Future First Ballot Hall of Famer

If you're bored and have time to read a 25 page report on why Orpik should be a first ballot hall of famer...
OMG.

This is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Thank you.

Sutter was fired back in 2017... this is a formal retirement.

If there's anyone that can make the Islanders completely unlikable again, it's Trotz.

I won't click that, but oh man...what a thesis...

Real question: does he get his number retired in Pittsburgh even?
Retired for what? Being a surviving member of Generation X?

He's the all time leader in hitting an opposing player into the goalie after a goal. Show some respect.

I think he is the all time leader in GP among d-men for us...I wouldn't retire it. But I'm just posing a scenario that's so far below the HOF and even that's a struggle...

I couldn't really tell if the person was really serious or not, but I had a Rangers fan suggest to me that Jay Wells should be considered for the Hall...so...

Pens have only retired two numbers. There's no way in hell they retire Orpik's number.

Dale Tallon, Florida GM, on trade talks so far: "I haven't heard a lot about big names. It's mostly deals that fill needs for teams, either a stay-at-home defenseman or a third-line or a fourth-line guy or a specialty player of some sort."

So what about all of these big names that "writers" keep trowing out there as available and being shopped?

That's two GMs in the last couple days calling shenanigans on the "writers"

He just brought in Hoffman, even with the situation he's in, is still a pretty big name.

Another amazing statistic about Orpik is is faceoff percentage. Throughout his entire career as an NHL star, Brooks Orpik boasts a 100% faceoff win percentage. Many elite centers struggle to get above even 50%, but Orpik manages to maintain his faceoff percentage.

Some updates from Yzerman during today’s pre-#NHLDraft availability:

• We will not be offering Chris Kunitz a contract for the upcoming season
• No update on the coaching search just yet
• He is hoping to sign all of our RFAs

I'd have him at a reduced rate for bottom six depth but I know the Pens and once they lost two games in a row Sid would be dragging him around on his wing the rest of the year. No thanks.

Oh Jesus. Cue the Yohe/Mackey campaign to bring back Kunitz so they can start calling him dad.

I'd take him at 1m for 3rd/4th line role.

When I was looking for the tweet I saw Mackey already has an article up. Of course it has a question in the headline.

I don't know if the Penguins would have Chris Kunitz back, but I do know he would seriously entertain an offer if they did.

If the Penguins want to tweak their fourth line, a familiar option will be out there:

If he's coming on cheap and for the 4th line, why not? But I doubt he'd be all that cheap and we all know he'd be on Crosby's wing by mid November.

I hate all of you, but more than anything I hate Jason Mackey.

Guentzel-Sid-Hornqvist
Hagelin-Malkin-Kessel
Sheary-Brassard-Sprong
ZAR-Sheahan-Kuhnhackl-Rust-Simon-etc.

All better than Kunitz's washed up ancient ass. **** piece of **** Mackey.

He's enjoying his retirement in the Key Bank Club at PPG
