Where are all of the people that used to defend Hagelin (with his $4M cap hit) tooth and nail? At worst Tanev will be a physical Hagelin, for less cap hit. Somehow this Tanev contract is one of the signs of the Apocalypse though?

It's 3.5mm for 6 **** years for a **** 4th liner.
It's overpayment for the sake of overpayment.

i guess my sneaky fear is that he's just one of these steve downie types that thinks slamming his face into things is good for team morale, and can't actually wreck anyone or do anything constructive outside of evoking stick taps over the boards.

I just hope he doesn't think he's good because he had a good season...if he works his bag off every shift like he's been doing, we'll get some value out of it...but, I don't know, it just doesn't feel right...

Good to see Panarin speaking out against Putin.

To answer your follow ups:
...A checking forward on Nashville.
...yeah, no, you shouldn't know who he is...
...I don't know why either.
...I know it's a lot of years...
...yeah, it's Colton, his real name is Colton, his parents are dicks...

11 years in the league is pretty damn impressive for a former ECHLer who didn’t make his debut until 27 and came up for the primary purpose of being a heavyweight.
That contract Calgary gave him is still hilarious.

Vegas paid him pretty well too...4.5 million for 2 years, plus possibly another 1.5...

The Leafs traded for David Clarkson's contract.
He's been paid 45+ mm for 200 career points.

Fun little game I saw on Twitter:
The best player who shares your birthday has to take a shootout attempt to save your life on the Cup winning goalie from the year you graduated high school. Do you survive?
I would have to choose between Mike Green and Sean Monahan to shoot on Antti Niemi.
Honestly I feel like either of then could do it, but would lean toward Monahan.
