Ya know, I know he was fancier and casted a larger shadow as a result of his highlight reel and puckjacking capabilities...but I'm not sold that Henrik Zetterberg was any less valuable or any less "good" than Pavel Datsyuk. I think Datsyuk was a more creative offensive force but I don't think Z is horribly far behind...and I think Z was better defensively...that's a minority opinion I think, as I tend to have...

I would not disagree with that. I feel that they are close enough in effectiveness, that for me to accurately choose one, I would need to know the overall make-up of the team I was adding them to. If the team would need some flair and slickness, Datsyuk obviously gets the nod. If I need an A+ lunch box, top-6, consistent animal, one Zetterberg, please.

Is he (or either of them really) a HOFer to you, meow?

It's close...I could take or leave either of them for the Hall...

That said, I think the Hall takes Datsyuk and then one day takes Z...but frankly, I could make a case for or against either of them probably...

This Corey Crawford situation seems scary.

Didn't they try to have him play through it, saying it was just vertigo symptoms, or am I misremembering?

no, you're correct. They tried passing it as vertigo but calling it an upper body injury.
But the mystery still remains: What is actually wrong with Crawford, who missed the final 47 games with a head injury?

The Hawks have remained tight-lipped about Crawford’s situation, calling it an “upper-body injury.” But sources told the Sun-Times back in January that Crawford was experiencing “vertigo-like symptoms.”

Asked about the secrecy surround Crawford’s status, Bowman brushed off the idea that the Hawks were hiding something.

“There’s no gag order,” he said. “We handle Corey’s situation as we’ve handled every other player. We never go into specifics on injuries.”

Stupid rule of the day:

Starting this season, Czech junior league features mandatory overtime (and possible shootout) for every game this year, regardless of the 60-minute score (to get the young players experience with 3-on-3 and SO situations). One point will always be at stake .

First game of the season. Team A, down 0:4 has to defend a PP with 1 minute to go. The catch - the rule stipulates that the penalty CARRIES into OT!!! So the coach - rationally - orders his goalie to let the puck in. Team B indeed scores at 59:59.

The Czech Federation BANS the coach for 9 MONTHS!!!! And puts the goalie on probation. And ten immediately changes the rule regarding the penalty carry-over...

(Shockingly, the possibility of such behavior allegedly was discussed before the rule was announced, but the officials dismissed it because "nobody is expected to behave in such an unsportsmanlike way'! )

Not exactly this:

...but close. (It would have been awesome for Team B to *defend* Team A goal.)

Zetterberg did shadow Sid for both SCFs, and did a good job at shutting him down. Having Rafalski and Lindstrom on the ice, usually at the same time, didn't hurt either, of course.

Barkov named the 10th captain in Florida's history. Good choice, imo.

I can barely make it through a 7:30 pm game. You want me to be up for a second of a 10 pm game? You’re crazy. I like you, but you’re crazy

You get up at like 4 am and have a real life...I live in a fantasy camp...I do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off neighbors, and have sex without dating...

Therefore, I watch the west...
