TIL Nick Bonino is on the Sharks.

Didn't even realize he left Minnesota.

That's 40% on top of his 17-year assist output...

Well 16 and a quarter. But whatever, that would mean 6.8 more years. He's 34. But those 17 years include a lockout and concussion gate, so I think that's a bit high. So I ballpark 6 years at 50 assists a year. Which I guess technically puts him at 5-6 but it's Sid so I round up.

I figure he just gets the rest of Joe Sakic's career...so about 200 more assists. Which puts him on either side of 10th...and then he throws himself into a snow blower and that's that...

At his press conference, he mentioned being fired was something that was discussed in the off-season, but they let him stick around.

I'm mostly shocked that a coach would, essentially, fire themselves.

Maurice is getting a ton of praise for quitting on the team.

I appreciate the self-awareness...I get my assistants to do drills in practice...the other game, we were trailing 5-4 going into the 2nd and whispered to my quieter assistant privately, "Hey, I need you to be ready to give them a little energy right before the period. It's gotta come from you this time, it can't come from me."

He said his piece, we won 9-5. I told him after the game he just passed me in Coach of the Year voting...sometimes you get sick of hearing the same guy doing the same things...

That’s the correct call. Having a built in break makes that decision a no brainer.

Could the Olympic break be used for makeup games if the NHL/NHLPA don't participate in the Olympics?

Would be tough since arenas likely booked other attractions based on the assumption the Olympic break would happen
