I'm not aware of a situation like that in the last 20 years. Doesn't mean there isn't one...but I'm not aware of it, and this is a fairly popular topic at rinks and bars (power struggles, org charts, etc.)My question was genuine. Is there such a thing as a fully autonomous NHL GM? I don’t think we’ve seen one in Pittsburgh.Shero was blocked from trading Letang years ago too, right before the 8x7.5 extension I believeHave we ever had a GM with full autonomy? Is that common? FGMJR allegedly left because he wanted to make a move that ownership disagrees with. FGMRH had FSG and Burke oversight. Howard Baldwin swung his dick around.
And how would we feel giving a GM full autonomy and their first step is trading Malkin, Letang, or Sid?

Suspended for the rest of the tournament, no question.
Also, I know this tournament isn't popular...and I'm watching Latvia/Kazakhstan...but man, you guys should see this 3rd Latvian goal...Gord Miller and Mike Johnson are perplexed to say the least...

That’s one of those things that maybe crosses the boarder between a hockey play (suspension) and legit assault charges. That’s Happy Gilmore ****.

I didn't know much about Veleno but will probably hate him for the rest of his career

Yes, and I can see why he is.

He's explaining to a known boob, I think he's like Analytics Rossi. So, you could go on a 6 minute soliloquy about NZ surfing as a means of a risk mitigation/rush absorption and after it he'd say, "okay, awesome, when do you want to start talking about hockey...?"

I think that's the max games Canada could play for the rest of the tournament...if they go out early, that suspension will carry to whatever next tournament, ahem, Joe Veleno (muffin man) is eligible for next...
Seems...fine...I don't know. Like meow said, this doesn't happen...

That feels about right. I wonder if the mid-period ice scrape will impact things over time...though, that's not necessarily in the 11th minute or whatever...

I love the spike at 2 minutes of the first OT. Probably the winning team is able to wiggle a scoring line out there against a favorable matchup.
Hockey Randomness
I like the spike at 15 minutes into the 2nd OT. Either one team is gassed or the other is like "no **** way we're playing a 3rd OT"

Are there still tv timeouts in OT? I assume yes but don’t actually know. And aren’t they at 15, 10 and 5? Those are where the spikes are

There hasn't been media timeouts in playoff overtime in, geez, maybe 30 years...? Something like that. Timeouts in regular periods are 14, 10, 6 anyhow. Just the ice scrape at the first whistle after 10 minutes of playoff OT, and it is stoppage agnostic (i.e. it'll happen if a team is on the power play, after an icing, etc.)Are there still tv timeouts in OT? I assume yes but don’t actually know. And aren’t they at 15, 10 and 5? Those are where the spikes are
