I would take Perry if he came cheap. But then I would have to trade Hörnqvist.

I would rather have Perry at 2x2.5 than Hörnqvist's contract, I think.

How’s Daley doing in Detroit ? He seemed like a big deal in the locker room here. That wasn’t a small loss.

Ryan Callahan diagnosed with a degenerative back condition. Will be LTIRetired.

Why does it feel like all of these guys that get LTIRetired also happen to be bad contracts that their teams are trying to dump?

Like, aside from maybe Jason Harding, how many other guys have been forced to retire whose contract also aren't hampering their team?

Hossa was allergic to his pads...I don't think he was hindering the Wings at the time.

7 yrs, $50 mil for Hayes in Philly. That's a lot for a talented but pretty non-competitive player...
He also got a full NMC for the first three years (followed by modified NTC with a 12 team list in the remaining four years), which protects him from being offered up in the expansion draft.

He was on the Blackhawks, who were very much up against the cap.

Yeah, saying the Hossa 'allergy' was a good player forced out before his due is completely revisionist.

What are the odds that Max ends up in a TV role, and what are the odds that it's in Pittsburgh?

They're already partially employing Army and Rupp, who are both very good. If Max gets a TV job I think it's in Frenchy land next to Dupper.

I was looking at the draft picks and who traded what for what...

Buffalo has the #31 pick which it got in part for sending O'Reilly to St. Louis. St. Louis had such low expectations for themselves that they had this stipulation added: If St. Louis' 2019 1st round pick ends up being a top 10 pick, the Blues have the option to keep the 2019 1st round pick and send Buffalo their 2020 1st round pick instead.

St. Louis feared that the would be one of the worst teams in the league, so they added this to protect themselves from missing out on a top pick (see Ott/Col). Instead they win the Cup. July expectations can be very different from June reality.

They discussed removing offside altogether - they being either the owners or coaches or competition committee or something, I don't remember who

another year, another indefensible continuation of the puck-over-glass rule.

make them stay on the ice. put the faceoff in their zone. there's a model for this. it's called icing. but sure...wait until game 7 OT in the finals is decided by a guy making a woopsie with a high clearing attempt first.
