This was a stunning press conference from Fletcher today. Man, that fan base hates him. Ed Snider has become a Christ like figure these days.

Besides having infinite money, the Flyers would be considered one of the worst run organizations in hockey...

Former Pens scout Patrik Allvin named GM of Vancouver - first Swede to hold the position, second European. Emilie Castonguay is assistant GM - second woman to hold the position.

Batherson was injured. location of hit was dangerous and Batherson wasn't expecting to get hit. I heard the talking heads on XM say it perfectly: if skaters can't hit goalies, then goalies can't hit skaters.
it was dirty as **** and Dell got everything he deserved.

Looking deeper, sounds like the IOC is letting anyone who plays on HC Red Kunlun to play on the Chinese National Team so they aren't completely embarrassed.

This is how I understand that: Chinese tried to build the sport the normal way. They even had a development team that - thanks to Jaromir Jagr who visited China a few years ago - got to play in the Czech 3rd league a few years back (and kept losing all games by a huge margin).

Ultimately, there was a danger that IIHF would not allow Chinese play at the OG (even though as an organizer the spot would be guaranteed) - simply to spare the world of seeing 20:0 types of losses.

So Chinese said f-it - and gave their citizenship to pretty much the complete Kunlun Red Star team (which plays in the KHL). Problem solved...

The capacity is only 5300. Could be less if they need to "optimize" for the NHL game.

What a **** joke. Just relocate them already.

For reference, the Wheeling Civic Center where the Nailers play has a slightly larger capacity (5400)

Yeah, I've held out for a while...but it's time. Quebec City would be nice...the only thing is is that QC doesn't help the cap because Canada is absurd when it comes to covid, so if they keep shutting things down for these nonsense variants, they'll generate even less revenue than 5,000 seat Phoenix...

But assuming we emerge from covid and/or Trudeau's head emerges from his ass, QC would be great...bring back that Montreal/Quebec rivalry, especially with Montreal looking like an expansion team right now without Carey Price...

“Insensitive actions and gestures, regardless of intent, cannot be tolerated in our game”, said ECHL Commissioner, Ryan Crelin.
Panetta’s statement:

So the league determined there wasn’t racist intent and still suspended him for the rest of the year? Eeeeh

Idk why people are taking Panetta's word for it.

Here's what the ECHL said:

https://www.echl.com/news/2022/1/echl-a ... ion-jan-27

That doesn't seem like they determined there wasn't intent, but I can't really say one way or the other what was said behind closed doors. But I'm not sure I'm going to take Panetta's word for it since he's trying to save face.

Well, I have only seen the one cell phone video, but we have a classic "oh, you're somebody" act...against a player who is notoriously a big talker...and one move gets you a fight and the other move knocks you out of your career profession...

I mean, maybe...but...to be guilty, typically you typically need proof. Not on Twitter. But, in real life...

It’s the “regardless of intent” that gets me. Give him a 10 or even 20. But the rest of season? Eeeeh. We don’t know if anything else was said on the ice that would make it racist. By the video and the explanation, this was an unfortunate misunderstanding. I don’t blame Subban, though I’m curious about his thoughts now that he’s seen the explanation and the suspension.
