So apparently Tavares was named captain of the Leafs. Kinda surprised that they didn’t give it to Matthews, to be honest.
they couldn't after what came out. had this incident come out back in May when it happened Mathews could've probably been wearing the C last night. Tavares isn't a bad choice. let him have the C now and in a few years when he's gone they can give it to AM.
I would honestly be surprised if AM stays with the Leafs after 5 years.

DeBrincat is 21 years old, played 2 seasons (82 games each) and had 28g/41g and 52pts/76pts. So above Guentzel while being 3 years younger.

I just realized I read 8.4 instead of 6.4. Never mind then.

Attendance at the last Prague practice of Philadelphia and Chicago before their NHL game tomorrow ?
10,000! (Even though people had to pay about $20, I believe)

We're talking about practice man. What are we talking about? Practice? We're talking about practice, man. We're talking about practice. We're talking about practice. We ain't talking about the game. We're talking about practice, man.

Damn...I get it's the NHL and the ExtraLiga or whatever it's called sucks lemons...but who are they even there to see? I can only think of one Czech on either team and it's Voracek...

Anecdotally, I get the chance to coach a native Czech for the first time. I sat and talked with him for 90 minutes before a preseason game just talking about Czech hockey and a little Czech politics (spurred by some of your contributions about pirates and communism in the politics thread, Tomas...thanks for the leg up there, I really sounded cultured and smart for a change)...great conversation, terrific kid...wagon of a player too, he competes like a bastard and has a lot of skill for this level...

For what he provides them, that seems to be a solid deal.

The Ottawa Senators have acquired Vladislav Namestnikov from the New York Rangers in exchange for a 2021 fourth round draft pick and defenceman Nick Ebert. The Rangers will retain $750,000 of Namestnikov's $4 million salary. Namestnikov will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
