What's dumber is he wasted two picks on UFAs (Larsson, Oleksiak) that he literally could've signed at any time. He could've gotten both plus a player from Dallas and Edmonton.

Yeah, it's weird that they didn't have any rules in place about doing that that Seattle needed to follow.

If Hextall can convince other GMs that the Oleksiak contract is a good deal, then he should have takers lining up for Pettersson and Matheson. He just has to ensure that he can make agents realize how bad that deal is before he signs anyone new.

See, for me, this is the ultimate video game, God mode point. You have a chance to get a RHS second pairing d-man, exclusively, at $4 million per year...but, you're willing to wait and expose him to the entire market in exchange for......uhh...Tyler Benson...?
