Does basically every Spezza-level talent covet more ice time or is a guy like Hall, for example, happy to get a lighter load for the same pay?

Talent wants to play...

The only guys that don't are usually the ones scared of getting hit...they'll skip one...but talent wants to play...

But to shmenguin’s point, I’m not sure Hall wants hit anymore.

Hall's not smart enough to know that he doesn't want that anymore...

So it’s more likely a low character high talent guy will want to play, but he’ll just go out and do it his way to avoid any unpleasantness.

I don't know if I understand that player type...but just generally speaking, players want to play...ice time is the reward for doing good...bench time is the punishment for doing bad...that's the construct...

I had forgotten about how dirty the league tried to do him with the ASG shenanigans. **** them.

If my career was a novelty and I’m generally not well liked by fans, and then as a joke because of how bad I am, fans select me to the ASG...I don’t know why I’d want to participate.

Scott was weird about this imo and had at least 2 really foul moments in his career where he went beyond just being a fighter and went after real players. **** him a little bit too.

That was the most fun all star game of the modern era. John Scott made an otherwise barely watchable event must-see television.

 For a hockey fan it was must-see. I think it has crossover appeal too. ESPN actually covered the story. Mandalay Sports Media bought the rights to it for either a movie or a doc, not sure yet. They're the team behind The Last Dance. I don't think they have much scripted content, or at least not many successful scripted projects. Point being, don't be a sourpuss. It was a fun story and made the ASG actually interesting.

Seeing the worst player in the league voted to the ASG as a novelty then winning MVP was fun. I agree. Glad it happened. May never happen again.

But Scott’s, generally speaking, a complete joke - as was his career. I guess I don’t like whatever version of mis-aligned validation he experienced.
