Given meow’s goaltending career it’s of little surprise that he has vision problems.

meow how did you handle loose pucks and rebounds that were directly in front of your body...actively? Passively like Varly?

Pretty situational play, honestly. Maybe go paddle down if a hack and whack session was about to happen and look to cover it. Maybe a poke check if was off a rush type play. I would play it passively if it was at a bad angle or if we had numbers in front.

Digging up some old info this weekend, which caused me to get distracted enough to start going through the first two months of the Johnstown Chiefs.

From 2/16/1988, this might be my favorite article that I've read from that season. It reads like an outtake from Slap Shot:

* Usher comes down from the top of the arena to punch a player in the penalty box.
* Coach is doused with beer and eventually has to use a players' stick to fend for himself against fans.
* Police gives the coach directions (and probably a very direct request) to leave town.

God bless the old AAHL.

NHL released the award winners. Too lazy to post them.

Apparently the league made players pay for their room service/food in the bubble.

They should've had a per diem. It definitely shouldn't be an all or nothing thing, because if it was 100%, you know players would take advantage and order a ridiculous amount of ****. I mean, I would. But to not cover meals? That's just shitty.

I'm just not going to get too upset over players having to pay for their own meals.

The fact that they had no choice in where to get the food does sway me in their direction some. It's not like they could go get groceries and eat like a normal person. Sounds like it was months of room service.

Didn't the NHLPA have to sign off on an agreement to resume play in a bubble? I'd have thought that this topic would have been covered in there somewhere.

Even during a normal season, do you think they eat “like a normal person”?

Because they don’t

The original Tweet got nuked, but it was from an ESPN article: https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/299 ... ayoff-hubs

Interesting stuff in there. I didn't know Wyshynski could actually do his own reporting, I thought his schtick was to make snarky summaries of other people's work.

No, I don't. Which goes to my point. What were they paying for this stuff? Hotel prices? $22/plate for some scrambled eggs and sausage every single morning?

Boy. That’s not a good look for the players. Really sound like a bunch of brats.
