as I said to a friend about Caps cutting him:
don't care if it was a leaked private convo. he still said those things. I don't care if the Caps dump him, don't care if his brother gets kicked out of college. that's not my business but now we know what kind of men they really are.

I feel like your expectations of the quality of young hockey players needs to be recalibrated.

It's a shame that this is what will carry David Andrews into retirement

How much is the TV money for the NHL? I was wondering whether they can continue the season with empty arenas? The media network should drool over the opportunity and many fans would like it?

In US: almost none

How would the NHL make this happen? That UFC event almost went off the rails when Souza tested positive. He was around all of the other competitors and likely exposed a lot of people during his short time at the event. I guess we'll see in a few weeks if it spread.

NHL teams would all need to go to (ideally) separate hotels that don't have any other guests, they would need to be tested on arrival, and, assuming everybody is healthy, would need to quarantine throughout the remainder of play. That's a tough ask.

I don't know when but I really personally believe they are going to cancel the rest of the season and playoffs. Just start the new season in October (if appropriate).

Barring anything insane happening with the slow roll of re-openings around the country...cancelling the season seems like a sub-10% likelihood based on what I know...well, knew...as I haven't really discussed this at any length with anyone relevant in the last 7 or 8 days and a lot can change in that time period for this kind of thing...

We still don't have a draft date yet. The only thing that another scout suggested to me is that they said the NHL would give them a month of time after the official announcement/decision...which, God willing, eliminates the word possible scenario for us: a June 5th draft. Hopefully we don't get a June 12th one either unless they announce something early this week...there was A LOT of push back from the teams on that...

The odds-on favorite right now seems to be a 24 team tournament...various reasons: simplification of draft lottery, includes big market teams that are on the cusp, mitigates need to finish regular season, etc.

Have there been any discussion on safety protocols? If one player tests positive, that could spread quickly and kill the season.

No doubt that's been a big portion of the discussion...that's not something that I/we talk about because it's way over our heads and doesn't really affect us...so I can't speak to that with any first-hand knowledge or at least anything that isn't already out there on TSN or what have you...

As a homage to the chili festival episode of the Simpsons, I say, "This is just your memory, I can provide no new information..."

Looks like the MLB is starting up July 4th to empty stadiums.

Wonder if the NHL will try something or just give up and start a new season in October.

That seems like the biggest problem with trying to play any sports during this. What do you do when a player tests positive? Quarantine? Shut the whole thing down? Not to mention untimely positive tests. Imagine reading this headline:
"Sidney Crosby tests positive before game 7, can't play."

I see Gaucho took care of posting it first. I guess I didn't read it enough. Either that or I just forgot what I read which happens a lot anymore. I definitely forgot the Calder Cup stuff. And no one knows what will happen, not even you. I think I got it now.

Thanks. I was just curious since the Premier League probably resumes in the beginning of June and they will play with very few people at the arenas. However, they earn a s**tload of ca$h from their TV-deals.

My favorite thing about Datsyuk is he would take the puck back into traffic just to humiliate a player a second time.
