Dreger is estimating $9.5+ for Duchene.
That's obtuse.
Oh, and Philly is about to give Kevin Hayes ~$7 mil. Kevin. Hayes.

Already did...
And yes, Dutchy is gonna get $9 or $10 million if he's trying to cash in...

There's a good chance that I have no idea what I'm talking about, but that seems crazy, no? If we weren't already heading for a lockout, those numbers aren't helping.

Duchene seems more like a fit guy than a highest deal guy

Costs are already controlled/fixed...doesn't matter how the Union decides to split it up, the costs are fixed...zero impact on a lockout. There's a good chance that I have no idea what I'm talking about, but that seems crazy, no? Yes, that's pretty high for Duchene.
I also agree with meow...he just wants to be loved and have fun...

Not a fan of Philly having a solid defense corps. Hopefully their forwards can be abused.

Crosby has abused Braun pretty regularly IIRC.

Yeah? I mean, it can't have been too regularly...because outside of that Final (where Braun wasn't the problem...it was Dillon and the other luddite they had), they've met like 10 times across the last 6, 7, 8 regular seasons or whatever...
EDIT: Oh that's right, he did out maneuver a really good skater there...good gif.

The Flyers' defense is getting decent around the same time that their offense is going to turn to ****. I'm okay with that.

Hmph, maybe...that forward group doesn't look bad on paper either...
G, Voracek, Coots, Konecny are definitely top six forwards. JVR, Hayes are top-six support pieces...Nolan Patrick is a question mark...but that's probably a good seven players that can play in your top-six right there...and then between the best player in the OHL (Morgan Frost) and the 6'7" scoring winger who can skate (Ratcliffe), one of those guys is gonna pan out at least...and I assume that one of Wade Allison and Joel Farabee becomes a top-nine forward in two years...so I think they're all right...age is gonna be an issue, the young pieces meshing with the old, so it depends on how beat up G and Voracek get and how fast it happens...but this doesn't look bad on paper right now unfortunately...

If we are truly committed to relying upon aging stars on the wrong side of 30, I say let's do it.

I dont know why but seeing that 500k a year taking forever to add up to his salary just made my brain malfunction and realizes the enormity of the money pro athletes make. Like If I made 500k a year, which will never happen, Id still be a broke ass joke compared to some of these guys. And hockey players are not paid nearly like other athletes. Wild.Disagree. Not sure what kind of doctor she is going to be... but you are looking at $300,000 a year. He is looking at maybe about $70M over the rest of his career? Even if she makes $500K a year it would take her 140 years to make his earning over the next decade. That's actually some pretty forward thinking for an athlete. It's her salary that's going to carry them into retirement, not his.

I mean, you could...but how slow do we want to get? If you have Hornqvist and Perry on the same team making, what, $7, $8 million a year combined...that's gonna be kind of tough...
If I got some commitment from him about his dedication to himself and the game, maybe I'd feel differently...but I just don't know that's what we need right now...and maybe I'm wrong, but I don't know, he's 34 man...

Yeah, but he's gonna pick where he wants...it's a matter of fit for him I'd think...he's rich.

The idea of bringing in Perry reminds me of Scuderi's second go-round.

Scuderi's second go-around worked out splendidly.
