How is that for an ending! Italy vs. Slovenia tied 3:3 going into final minutes, knowing that absence of a three point regulation win will disqualify both teams from advancing to the world group. So, Slovenia removes its goalie with 50 seconds to go in the game. And Italy scores into the empty net two seconds before the final whistle. And, on account of that, if Great Britain doesn't lose against Hungary (that game is going on right now), Italy will advance to the world group thanks to the better tiebreaker over Kazakhstan...

In other news, Poland coached by Ted Nolan just got relegated to Div1B after losing to Kazakhstan 6:1...
Here is the crazy goal that put Italy in the world group for 2019:

Both goalies pulled at the same time - that's awesome.

IIHF made that up a bit. Slovenia did their part - they pulled their goalie with 50 seconds. Italy just sat an waited, and called their goalie up with less than 10 seconds - when it was clear Slovenia could not score. On top of that, Italian goalie was slow to skate to the bench, so Italy scored their goal with 7 players. Shockingly, no review....

Ultimately, Italy got massively rewarded for being chickens. None of that would have mattered if Hungary (on home ice) took care of Great Britain in the last game of the tournament (which they did not).

Incidentally, out of nowhere, Hungary - despite not having many good players - is slowly becoming a true "hockey country". They have no problem selling out arenas when their home team plays. A lot of people were hoping they would advance, because next year's WC will be in Slovakia, and a lot of Hungarian fans would have flooded their former northern province...

Edzo can only count to 7, so he likes to show that skill off whenever possible

HC Kladno just announced that their owner Jaromir Jagr will be playing for the team during the upcoming 2018-19 season (google translate forgot "NOT missing Jaromir Jagr himself"):

Don’t be shocked if Ron Francis is employed by the Penguins at some point. Very close with Mario and GMJR. https://t.co/WZYaCl91CF

So because they are friends, he will have a job? That's his gist?

Brian Burke stepped down from Calgary and later that day he was on CBC doing intermission stuff. He's providing some quality content. When Don Cherry's face falls completely off of his skull, Brian Burke seems like a logical replacement...

I am not sure if I have said this before... but every time a player being interviewed says something like "We need to keep it simple" or "play a simple game" they should be fined $1000 (charity).
