Which is far, far more distracting than little ads in the corners...so...we're good...
Hockey Randomness
Not sure how long it's been happening, but I just noticed this year that at PPG some media intern runs out during intermission and peels the ads off the boards exposing another layer of ads. They're probably selling the space at 40% of a full game ad and netting a increase in revenue. Neat.Rotating ads in boards has been tested.
I don't know if that's what you meant but I thought it was cool from a marketing standpoint.

Are the digital board ads still a thing? I remember seeing a few arenas with them and thinking they were unnecessarily distracting.
Also, I hate the superimposed ads on the glass. Throw a damn logo bug in the upper corner instead of pretending like it physically exists.

And in a year or so, your next post will read "a couple of small ads at the blue line won't do anything...there's four ads at center ice and a couple of small ads in the corners already." I'm not arguing the business decision, just that I think it a) looks gaudy and b) can become distracting.Source of the post a couple of small ads in the corners won't do anything...there's four ads at center ice already, no1curr...
That's how it starts... with oohing and awwing... then later there is running and screaming!

I am most annoyed (still) by shrill screaming girl (on tv) when the Pens score.

If there are ads on the ice, then there will add on the jerseys. It’ll be anarchy!

F that...I'll be their spokesperson, spokesman, spokesass...whatever...
I mean, with pasta sides, you're always seven minutes away from scraping burnt noodles off the sides and bottom of a non-stick pot with a metal fork you found outside on the way home from work...I'd go to bat for them any day...

What a weird award, attributed to an odd player in history...
Very few players have actually documented situations where they tore a locker room apart and more or less damaged a team out right...Mark Messier is one of those players.
The award should be named for Jean Beliveau or if history enjoys being ignored, I wouldn't mind a tribute to late Steve Yzerman...

2 of the 3 "candidates" for the award aren't even captains on their team.

IMO, not being a captain doesn't have much bearing - especially if we're talking about the Flyers.2 of the 3 "candidates" for the award aren't even captains on their team.

I remember when they first showed up. people on HF were posting things like, "if I was sitting behind that ad I'd be PISSED!"
Also, I hate the superimposed ads on the glass. Throw a damn logo bug in the upper corner instead of pretending like it physically exists.

That's the most appropriate and accurate summary of HF that I've ever read.I remember when they first showed up. people on HF were posting things like, "if I was sitting behind that ad I'd be PISSED!"

I know we hashed this out before, but the revisionist history of Mark Messier is impressive.
