Winning a couple cups has washed the stink off of the late bylsma era. I remember him more for his successes than what came after. Best of luck, Dan.

Although I stumbled on this thread, it had some good stuff in there

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showt ... ?t=2139369
Does he still have an obsession with the stretch pass and getting out of their own end as quickly as possible?

I think two things can sum up Bylsma, tbh. He won the cup after tweaking Therrien's system and taking the shackles off a team he didn't really have anything to do with. He then proceeded to implement his system and stick to it after years of playoff failures.iirc there were stories of Mario telling him to do **** and Bylsma reverting back a couple of games later, and Martin getting brought in to help but Bylsma ignored him. In the 2013 playoffs, Bylsma finally had an epiphany and scratched Glass, after watching the team win, win, win... he snuck Glass back in for a game and they lost the only game they lost against Ottawa. It went into double OT and he didn't crack 10 minutes; Glass was scratched for the rest of the games. In his final game as the coach of the Pens it was win or get fired, Bylsma played Glass after scratching him since after the first game of the series. This whole time Adams played every game.

Stubborn to the point of losing his way instead of winning someone else's and loyal to his guys.

The third story is the tale of Iginla. The LW Jarome Iginla and the promise made to Dupuis. Shero gave Disco too many options and he got super confused.

The room wasn't in good shape, the team mindset was not in good shape and we deviated so far from the fundamental principles of the game...it's so far beyond player usage and scratching a six-minute player...

Yep.

If, however, the League wishes to challenge the determination of a Club physician that a Player is unfit to play for purposes of the Bona-Fide Long-Term Injury/Illness Exception, the League and the NHLPA shall promptly confer and jointly select a neutral physician, who shall review the Club physician's determination regarding the Player's fitness to play.

Effectively, yes. They're doing their due diligence on a team holding players out of their respective lineups...I don't think they'll "reverse" anything with Hossa, but Lupul's little social media spat gives me the impression he has a case...

Comedian on DVE mentioned this today:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coloured_Hockey_League
The Coloured Hockey League was an all-black ice hockey league founded in Nova Scotia in 1895, which featured teams from across Canada's Maritime Provinces. The league operated for several decades lasting until 1930. With as many as a dozen teams, over 400 African Canadian players from across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island participated in competition.
I've never heard this league mentioned in the history of the game before.

There's a book called "Black Ice" that details the history of this league. Some sources credit this league with the advent of the slapshot and allowing goalies to go down to make saves before the NHL players came up with it...seems to have been the origination of the term "Black Aces" in semi-popular hockey parlance...

Unless he developed this skin condition immediately after the season ended, they should absolutely "reverse" it. If he has had this condition and played with it for however long he has been in the league then he is not incapable of playing due to injury or illness. If its not worth it to him to play through the discomfort anymore then he just retires and sorry Chicago, thats your bed to lay in.

Sean Avery rips Tortorella a new one - and he's not too kind to Sullivan either:

None of us can stand listening to the mental midget and his big goofy sidekick, Mike Sullivan. Tortorella is a power-hungry control freak but he’s not smart enough to hire a good cop, even one he could play like a violin. If Mike Sullivan had played the good cop, he could still have turned around after meeting with a disgruntled player and told his puppet-master JT the details while giving the players some form of relief. Instead, they’re only able to dodint and vent to each other. This creates an unhealthy locker room.
