Shanahan story on Sean Avery chirping Joe Sakic

I remember when I was in Detroit, Sean Avery stood up as Joe Sakic was skating by our bench. Sean was a young, enthusiastic hockey player who was well liked by us old guys, and as you might know, was known for trash talking. But when he stood up and yelled, “Hey Sakic!” Brett Hull grabbed him by the back of his sweater and yanked him down on the bench. Then he said, and I'll never forget this, “You are not allowed to speak to Mr. Sakic.” And then Sean looked down the bench at the rest of the boys and we all just sort of nodded.

I was just about to post that. Literally the most random hockey related thing I've ever had pop up on Facebook. Not used to seeing NHL officials so young. He and his brother were both excellent players for Quaker Valley.

I thought this at first too, but the closer you examine them the worse they look. The giant gold numbers on the back sealed the deal.

I would expect this from the Vegas team.

I get that gold is the color for a 50th anniversary. But it looks awful on these jerseys. If they wanted gold, the nice commemorative patch with gold is enough.

I actually like the Flyers regular jerseys. This just ruins them.
