Putting the product where everyone can get it. Huh.

Here's the way I see it. Stanley has been around for over a century and now every millennial has one because they saw it's cool from social media. ESPN and some select accounts promoting hockey can get the NHL a half decent audience

Nylander signs 8 x 11.5
Good deal, but I'm calling Chicago after the season to try and work something out around Marner.
Both marner and JT are UFAs after next year. I would not want to give Marner a raise and have 3 guys making between $11-14M again.
I wonder if Chicago would part with some of their young high pick US guys and some draft capital to get a bona-fide #1 winger for bedard

Marner already makes ~$11 mil. So keeping him would likely require no further investment...so Tavares will come off the books, and that'll be that...right?

Maybe. I guess that's an increase of ~$3-4M on the updated "big three" if marner does 8x11.5 as well

I would try to keep Marner if I were Toronto. Quite young and a superstar.
As mikey said. Drop JT instead. Unless you get a shitload of assets for Marner...
Edit: I would want something like a Makar or Rasmus Dahlin ++ in return for Marner... and I don't think I would get that.

Apparently Gauthier wasn't going to sign in Philly.

Probably no one cares here, but just in case...
- Gauthier is over sold a bit. Not a center for me. He's just a shooter. More of a winger for me. Has some jam, great shot. Not much else. A lot of tire pumping from the WJC MVP, but he wasn't a top 3 American player for me.
- I like Drysdale. Worst case he's Cam York. Getting a 2 on top of it is probably mostly for health concerns from Dry.
- Heard from a questionable source that Flyers brass tried to meet with Gauthier at the WJCs and he either refused or no-show'd. Unclear which.
- Grew up a Pens fan...it'd be kind of wild if he was so hard-core about that haha

Cutter is probably right...because Torts has gone down this road before, he doesn't tolerate this garbage. What was the buddy that Martin St. Louis brought with him to Tampa...? Eric Perrin maybe? There was something about him not signing as a RFA or some **** and ultimately he went to Europe or something and Torts was like, "**** Eric Perrin, he can kiss my ass" haha - frankly, I don't blame him with what I know right now.

That sounds familiar but I'm not sure if it was him. Perrin did play with Bern in 2005-06, but he was 30 at the time.Cutter is probably right...because Torts has gone down this road before, he doesn't tolerate this garbage. I want to say that the player you were thinking of was an undersized Finnish player that was supposed to come over and ended up staying in Europe. If I saw the name, I would definitely recognize it.
Side note while trying to find info on Perrin and this other player: I had no idea that Perrin's name was on the Cup. He didn't hit the usual qualifiers but was added by the team since he played in the conf final.
Also learned that one of the ways that you can tell the Presentation Cup vs the Replica Cup by looking at the 2003-04 Lightning.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_Stan ... ngraving_2All 52 members were included with their full first and last names on the presentation Stanley Cup, filling the last spot on it. When the engraver Louise St. Jacques went to engrave the replica Stanley Cup, there was less space available. There was more space between each winning team on the replica Stanley Cup than on the presentation Stanley Cup. Louise decided to keep each member's name in the same order on the same line on the replica Stanley Cup, so all names were engraved with their first initial and full last name. This is another way of telling the presentation Stanley Cup from the replica Stanley Cup.

I hate to say it but I have to side with the Flyers on this one. Who the **** is Cutter Gauthier to demand to play elsewhere before even signing an NHL contract?
They did a nice job striking while his pre-contract value was at its highest. I think Drysdale can still get close to the level dictated by his draft pedigree. Young small defenseman who hasn't been healthy. Give him time
