Someone told me a team offered between 11 and 12 x 7 years today...I actually inferred that it was CBJ, but evidently not...

Why sign with Columbus? I get he is American but Calgary seems like a better hockey town and several teams seem to have offered more money...

This offseason has been funny for me, except for the Rags signing Trocheck.

I'd be really salty now if I were a Flames fan.

Their own fault for living in Calgary.

it's not like it's "close to family" either. I get not wanting to go to NYI. not everyone wants to put up with Lou's strange 1950s era rules but what's wrong with Jersey? I mean, I don't want to live in Newark either but that's a chunk of change to leave on the table. the only thing I can come up with is that Gaudreau wanted a low pressure situation. Why sign with Columbus? I feel like this is just like the Deryk Engelland contract in Calgary. it seems like this should be $4m TOTAL not $4 PER year.
lol

Ya know. I love Johnny Hockey. But that contract might be one of the more egregious ones of the day. I don’t know if he’s a big enough winner to warrant soaking up that much of a team’s cap. Maybe I’m way off

Columbus is low key a great city, by the way. I mean, it's no Newark but as far as a smaller/medium mid-west city it's one of the better ones. Their arena district is 22 years old, 10 years older than PPG, and it's still far superior to what we have here. Turns out bars and restaurants create a better atmosphere on game day than three giant parking lots.

Pittsburgh has the worst "arena district" in the world.

Pittsburgh doesn't have an arena district at all haha.

There's so much potential for that area too, especially with the cap park now complete (or near complete, I haven't been down there in a while). I understand all of the politics involved by all sides but figure it the **** out.

Where did Evan Rodrigues sign? Or did he fail his testing of the market?

Don't know if I am too late, but Palat to New Jersey, 5 years/$30M
Kubalík to Detroit 2 years/$5M
Ondřej Kaše to Carolina 1 year/$1.5 M (refused the very same offer from Toronto)
Sustr to Minnesota 1 year/$750K
David Rittich too Winnipeg 1 year/$900K
Kubalík to Detroit 2 years/$5M
Ondřej Kaše to Carolina 1 year/$1.5 M (refused the very same offer from Toronto)

I love Palat, but that's a pretty tough consolation prize for them...he's 31 and has a lot of hard miles on him already...142 best-on-best games (138 playoffs, 4 olympics) in the last 8 years. Plus 600+ regular season games on top of it, where he plays an honest two-way game. He's like Hossa lite.
But just 49 points last year on a stacked offense. He makes as much as Malkin now...

Kubalik at $2.5 mil is something I wish we didn't miss out on. Kase at $1.5 mil would have been a fine get too...

And David Krejčí in Boston now allegedly discussing return to Bruins.
