Luongo is the one being questioned out of the four...? That's a little strange to me...
TIL mikey hates Swedes;)

I think all four are somewhat weak inductees, but I can live with them. What is the case for Alfie? Top 5 in scoring once? Longevity?

Anyone else watch the Avs/Wings Unrivaled show on ESPN? I thought it was good.
My wife and I were watching the College World Series and caught the tail end of this. I'll probably go back and watch the extended version at some point.

I've been doing a lot of pining for the late 90s lately. Music, films, pop culture, etc. The world before 9/11 was really pretty good. Man, I loved watching hockey back then, especially those two teams each spring. My wife was very concerned about Kris Draper not forgiving Lemieux and found it tough to live with that amount of bile for this long. She's not wrong, but I get why he wouldn't it.

They're somewhat weak as a group, but still one of the best possible results...which is weird to say. Alfredsson has a fair amount working for him, one thing that the Hall seems to like is guys who are the cornerstone of the franchise and Alfredsson is the most important player - by a mile - on this version of the Ottawa Senators...

Before Spezza, he had to deal with a lot of subpar centers and he made them look better...he was really versatile. His PP usage. He could have Jason Spezza as a center and become a goal scorer, he could have Todd White as a center and become a setup man from the wing...he was a good defensive winger too...gold medal winner in '06, led the team in goals and points...

I don't know, he's not any sort of slam dunk...but he's a fine choice. I'll assume Henrik Zetterberg won't be far behind either, which is a very worthy induction, imo...

I never really cared for Draper. This series just comfirmed that.

Who didn't get in to the hall is my question?

Lu is moat deserving of the group. Sedins were what top 5 in scoring for a handful of years in a row... alfredsson is whatever, mikey covered it with him being the sens centerpiece for 20 years

Pierre Turgeon isn't in the hall and I don't agree with that.

I can pretty easily pass on Nicholls without much thought...

Mogilny would be a fine addition...CuJo, meh, whatever...

You could probably go: Zetterberg, Lundqvist, Mikhailov, Turgeon next year if you wanted to and that wouldn't be heinous...

You know. Cujo wasn’t that great. He was good enough to play forever, but his highest of highs wasn’t particularly high

CuJo played on way better teams and lost way more...not to say he was trash, but he was clearly a second-tier goalie where as Luongo was a first...

He stole a couple of first round series in his prime...he was a little bit unlucky when his ship finally came in - playing for Detroit -> ran into Giguere in '03, didn't win a game and then Kiprusoff in '04...no international play.

CuJo got a reputation boost playing in Toronto, but I'm not sure he added that much to the team...net positive, sure. But he didn't really take them anywhere. He also never really had a backup most of his career, so he played 500 games a year...

For 19th overall and a C+ maybe B prospect...probably about right, as Fiala wants to get paid...there's uncertainty there...

I admittedly have not seen much of Fiala since his NSH days. Has he progressed to the point of actually being worth that?

A 7 year, $55.125-million contract with the Kings that carries an annual salary cap hit of $7.875 million.

He's a hell of a talent...it wasn't really about the technical progression, it's just about him wanting to play. I mean, look at his playoffs...I'm not sure he's a guy you can rely on to really win with...but he can definitely play the game at a high level...

Maybe like Panarin, but also the Panarin that we just played in the playoffs too...mas o menos...
