For all you know, he has velcro shoes.

Are those New Balance? Awesome.

Probably meant for mental patients, but still, they look inviting.

I'd rather have Crosby and players like him playing in a best on best tourney rather than meaningless preseason games.

There are no Zac Rinaldo wanna-bes trying to make a name for themselves by injuring a star player in a best on best tournament (unless you happen to play for Team USA).

I had to wear similar shoes when rehabbing my quad injury. They have optimum arch support. And are as uncomfortable as anything.

Thought maybe there'd be more discussion about Game 1 tonite. Europe held up pretty well but they could only get 1 by Price. Canada scored 2 early in the 1st, 1 on a terrific feed by Getzlaf to Stamkos. Thought it was going to be a blowout but Europe settled down. Crosby set up the 3rd goal with a super backhand feed from behind the net to Bergeron.

One other thing --having to listen to Steve Levy throughout this tournament has made my ears bleed. Really makes me appreciate the number of announcers across the league (not just on NBC) who call games (except maybe Steigy...he's an idiot, but he's OUR idiot). Levy had the smarts to say that everyone was happy to see hockey on ESPN again (all of them ESPN staffers) and then when Europe pulled Halak for the extra attacker, he came up with the gem stat that no one in the tournament had scored a 6-on-5 empty netter. Loui Erikson (who scored an ENG in the 2-0 win vs Finland) must have thought his goal had been taken away.

Game 2 Thursday night. I'd expect Canada to run em down again.

Yeah, Europe played as well as you can against that juggernaut. Sid almost snuck one in right before he set up that goal. That line is amazing. Levy is pretty bad... but I like having Buccigross as the Studio host. Also, give me Bret Hull over Roenick or Milbury any day.

Why would you think this board cares about the World Cup final when even Canada doesn't?

Nobody cares about this stupid tournament. Bettman and the owners you failed in your attempt to create an international tournament that would make you money. Now bite the bullet and let them play in the Olympics.

Hilarious. And even if they don't allow the league to participate in the Olympics, they'll lose most of their big stars anyway as I have no doubt the majority (especially those with clout) will follow Ovechkin's lead.

As soon as the NHL made up two regional/continent teams, the World Cup was doomed. This has to be seen as a failure. The only good thing to come of the tournament is ref cam.

I don't know, maybe we like to watch good hockey with NHL stars to whet our appetite for the season instead of dull preseason games with AHL-level talent.

NHL preseason games with AHL-level talent at least have stakes. These are guys fighting for their professional hockey careers. World Cup feels inconsequential.

I remember hearing on air that the Crosby/Malkin matchup in Pittsburgh sold-out the building. It most certainly didn't; they blocked off portions of the upper bowl.

Europe isn't going down without a fight. I really want Crosby back at camp before there is some freak injury, so if they could end this tonight that would be greeeeeeeat
