I REALLY need Russia to not be like Russia and actually win this crucial game.

I like that Lomardi and Torts decide to pass up on Kessel, Ryan, Faulk, and Shattenkirk, and then gripe about not being able to pick Eichel, Matthews or Gaudreau.

Sure wish Team NA would have been able to advance. That team was fun as HELL to watch.

You know, one small non-game detail I've really enjoyed about this tournament is how they've done the animation on the boards for advertisements. I wasn't fully paying attention at first and thought they were all brand new boards that were capable of outputting video animation while taking a beating. Then I noticed that on any camera but the main center-ice cam, they were standard every-day boards. AWESOME compositing work to get that looking completely seamless. This should replace any time they do those stupid ads on the glass. Love it.

The ESPN product is roughly eleventy billion times better than any other network.

Did anyone else see the spacing distances they showed for penalty killers? It was really cool

I was hoping for a glowing puck, though.

I hated FoxTrax. Still have one of those pucks, though.

Speaking of ESPN, I also have no problem with the boards. Not even sure how they do it. Pretty impressive and way better than the ads on the glass behind the goals that some networks do.

Really didn't "look" any different than any other broadcast. Directors were still cutting to tight shots on the boards and nearly missing passes in front of the net. All directors have that disease where they want to show everyone that they can do it rather than letting you watch the game. Though, I do like ESPN's penchant to letting you watch a set-up PP from the camera on the glass behind the goal...provided the robotic operator moves it fast enough. The announcing was way below par, though. Bucci & Levy were terrible with their delivery and I felt like I had to actually watch the action to know what was going on. Melrose brought nothing and he and Panger kept talking over each other. I like Pang and I like Weekes, though.

Czech Assistant Coach Vinny Prospal on Tortorella:

"He is a great man with a giant heart. And I am very happy that my wife and I can call him a family friend."

Translate the rest by yourselves... :) (In the interview, Prospal says Mike Sullivan "is a very helpful coach as well, and if you need help, he has no problems answering.")

Of course,

See what a great leader Jonathan Toews is? He's single-handedly willing Crosby to be superman.

I remember Telegin back in Saginaw (OHL)...there were even billboards for him locally "come see our Russian" or some such...he's a fine player, he - like many KHLers - could play in the NHL if he wanted to...but he'd make more and have more of a role in the KHL...he doesn't have top-six NHL skills probably, but he could definitely play on most NHL rosters...

Can we stop pretending that Lundqvist is an elite goalie that's constantly hung out to dry by a poor team in front of him? Dude hasn't won anything of significance.

Not 2010... He won gold in 2006. Forgot about that.
