The Stanley Cup Playoffs 2016 megathread

Let's talk about the playoffs in here...

Jimmy Howard gives up a goal on the first shot of the series against his club...yawn...

Nikita Kucherov and the Lightning starting to warm up after a sluggish start for them...Bishop looks ok so far, he always kind of scares me a little...but just a fraction over 2 per this year, maybe he can will them through this thing...

He got burnt out for whatever reason, they just rode him into the ground I guess because Howard is brutal...he lost his way, Howard came in and they backed into the playoffs...but yeah, I mean, you gotta think the series is unwinnable with Howard in net...I have the Lightning in 5...if Mrazek was in, I would consider changing that...but the Wings aren't that good at defense, so it's really just tough for them to win this thing in general...but that's why they play the game...

I hear Detroit is playing a game tonight.

Wish the Pens were.

It's a man's game in the night cap...Blues are bludgeoning the Blackhawks, but still 0-0 heading for extra time. The Blues have more impactful hits than the other five teams combined tonight, no question...they are, once again, geared up for war...

But only two shots on goal in the third. This is a game they have to win, I think, and just hitting won't get it done.

A good four or five pucks I thought would go for St. Louis in this OT alone...only one shot on goal though, plenty of looks...

And fittingly, they score on what would not be a pure shot on net...

Van Riemsdyk...yikes

Alone in front of the net and you redirect it right through Crawford's wickets.

And that's why it's never a bad play to throw it somewhere around the net, especially in OT.

I mean, you can't really fault TVR. He was blocking the passing lane that would've left Steen (I think) with a wide open net. Unfortunate bounce on his part. But I'm glad the Blackhawks lost.

Yeah, the Blues could ill-afford to let that one slip away. They have run into a lot of buzz saws and deserved a little better results in some series over the last few years...they really need that confidence of not chasing a series....

I had the same thought about the Pens for 19 minutes last night.

if you're in that position, you want to deflect it (like you said, Steen was wide open on the other side), but you have to do everything in your capacity to deflect it off net, not straight at your goalie.

watching the replay, TVR seems to lazily stick his skate in front of the Backes cross https://www.nhl.com/video/backes-overti ... c-43488803

And after all I've done for you.

Come to think of it, I've done absolutely nothing for you. BUT STILL.

Unacceptable.

I want Mike Richards to get a HT in a 3-0 Caps win.

What I want to know, Jim Jackson, is which NHL goaltenders don't try hard to see where the puck is?
